I've heard of two. One fiction book was to be written by Paul Donovan and was even advertised on Amazon but never materialized. The other non-fiction book has been written by Valdron here, and I think was also advertised on Amazon, will probably never now be published for reasons that won't become immediately clear again at the moment.

The 2 books mentioned by Cat are still listed by Amazon. The Valdron book has a release date of August 23, 2002, and the Donovan book's release date is December 31, 2008. :o They are both out of stock.

Novelizations of I Worship His Shadow and Supernova were published in Germany, in the German language (Burgschmiet , 1997, 1998). Novelizations of Feeding Pattern and Gigashadow were probably planned, but they don't seem to have materialised.

If you read German, or just want them for your collection, the Advanced Book Exchange has a few copies at moderate prices. Shipping is expensive, though. I just ordered mine, and it was USD 15.94 for the books, but USD 24.62 for shipping. :shock:

Donovan never completed the LEXX novel. So far as I know, all that existed of it was probably an outline, a few chapters, a mock up cover and some internet postings.

As for the LEXX nonfiction book. I was originally invited to work on this project. Salter Street handed the project over to a licensing manager named George Gross who turned out to be useless, so far as I can tell. Originally, the publisher was to be ECW Press. They dropped out when Alliance Atlantis took over Salter Street. Alliance Atlantis eventually had a new LEXX publisher, Titan Books. After I had dealt with Titan Books for a few months I formed the opinion that they were apparently incompetent and dishonest and declined to deal further with them, their book would have been terrible dreck. This is the 'listed' book, it is not out of print, it was never published.

A couple of sci fi writers were also working with George Gross on a LEXX book project. Neither I nor these other writers knew about each other until well after the fact. For a while, they were working on an unauthorized book, but dropped that.

Meanwhile, I eventually wrote the LEXX book that I wanted to write, had it professionally bound, and travelled to Atlanta to give it to Brian Downey. Brian has the only copy of the only LEXX book that is going to be written for the forseeable future. It is unlikely to be published.

That's a pretty sad story :(

If the low level of activity on this forum is any guide, the Lexx fan base is eroding fast. But there might still be enough fans willing to pay for a bound copy to justify the expense of having your book privately printed. I would buy a copy if the price was reasonable (say US$20 to $30).

Ajax, print on demand books are very expensive. Not counting the work of formatting, final editing and styling.

I recently printed a POD of one of my favorite online stories for myself and a few friends. For 350ish pages it cost 18.00 for a soft cover 5 x 8, say 4.00 for shipping and tracking. So figure 22.00 for a relatively small book. That is cost alone. The price for a hard backed book is most likely quadrupled.

Now valdron has a book for each season. So it would be 22.00 cost x 4 and that is nothing for the Author.

POD books are great to get what you want, but they are not cheap.
