So, in other words, after all that nonsense it comes back to a simple premise you reap what you sow.
If you are in any position of power, let’s say the great Admiral of BSG and your ship enters dark and turbulent waters on your command, who gets the ultimate harvest of tears and pain…. you who issue the orders of course.
“But…. but ….. it’s not my fault.”
Ultimately, yes…. yes it is. You led them there; their pain is your responsibility. Be thankful for those who have left; to lighten you resulting load.
