Zev was more of a feminine portrayal, where Xev is just too manly and butch, I think some blokes like Xev because her bust is bigger, but on beauty Eva wins hands down.
Xenia’s lips just ruin the whole thing, and I just think it’s possibly the worst lip job I’ve ever seen (apart from Jordan…UK model).
Xenia’s acting ability is better I grant you, but the main reason I first caught Lexx was wanting to check out who the gorgeous blue haired beauty was, and she was not a bad actress either.
Lexx missed a big opportunity letting Eva go, as she would have caught mens eyes and they would have tuned in just to see her…Xenia just doesn’t have that same effect.[/b]
Well, there are tons of folks that would disagree with you on that one.
And, to clear a few things up, Xenia’s lips are hers. She has stated in interviews that shw was made fun of constantly in school for them, and I tend to believe her over fan speculation. Also, the Beans didn’t let Eva go, she left of her own accord. The interim between seasons 1 and 2, a period when they didn’t even know if there *was* going to be a season 2, went on long enough for her contract to expire, and she signed up to do a German TV program because she needed the work. She took the time to do the first 2 episodes, which was all the time she could spare, in order to set up the transition. Acting-wise, Xenia runs rings around Eva. Perhaps it’s that Eva wasn’t as familiar with the language as Xenia is, perhaps it’s the fact that Xenia has studied at two of the most prestigious acting schools in the US (the Actors’ Studio in NY, and the Lee Strasberg Institute in LA). Personality-wise, I prefer Xenia because I felt that Zev (as Eva portrayed her) was too passive and too driven by her love for Kai. Xev is a more take-charge character with a more complex personality (except as seen in 4.2, where she somehow seems dumb as a post). I don’t see it as her being “manly” or “butch,” but simply more interested in satisfying herself (and not just sexually). And, also, for a character that is supposed to be a love slave, Eva was just too…well…plain. I’m sorry, and I know I’m gonna get flamed for that, but if a character is going to be set up as the epitome of man’s desires, she needs to be as over-the-top as possible. Her sensuality has to be exaggerated, in a way that when you see her, she’s startling. When I first saw Eva, I thought “she’s attractive, but I’ve seen others just as attractive.” Eva also *distinctly* lacked the sensuality that Xenia displays. And, on top of everything else, she couldn’t even kiss convincingly. I swear, from watching her in action in the movies and in Season 2, she is one of the worst screen kissers I’ve ever seen.
