I don’t know if this is science, but it’s not really the Pub either–
Are any of you chess players going to follow the match? My chess isn’t good enough to appreciate the niceties, but I really enjoyed the description I read of the first game yesterday, including the fact that Kasparov seemed to have caught Deep Jr. by surprise with his first move yesterday. Is that how you saw it? Any comments?The Deep Junior programmers say that instead of relying on sheer calculation power, their program incorporates artificial intelligence that gives it more humanlike judgment. Supposedly the program has not lost to a human in two years.
