Hello,
Im new here and I just want to say hello and ask a quick question. Im getting married on the 14th of sept and going to Las Vegas for the honeymoon and I was just wondering if there are any lexx related spots to visit while im there like maybe the hotel they stayed in in Viva Lexx Vegas. If anybody knows of anything worthwhile to check out it would be appreciated.
Thanks!2nd September 2002 at 7:22 pm #53591theFreyParticipantNone, nada, zip. Nothing in Viva Lexx Vegas was filmed in Nevada. Although in a composite shot they did drive past the Barbary Coast Hotel. You might want to ask Micro how that was, since she stayed there during the UScon Lexx Vegas.
I stayed at the MGM Grand, and I do not recommend it. It was nice enough in the rooms, but the hotel itself is too huge, with no good gathering areas, and everything spread from one end to the other. No matter where you go, ask for a room by the elevators, or you will spend a lot of time traipsing down very, very long hallways.
I was impressed by the Luxor though, which I think is what inspired the “King Tut Hotel” in the episode. (They have a King Tut Lounge there) Every thing seemed to be centrally located just an escalator ride away. You might get on the UScon yahoo list and ask Catrice about it. She stayed there the year before, and very much liked it. But what is not to like? A two story pharaoh statue is impressive. I think the Egyptian pharaoh style translates very well into the over the top Las Vegas style.
Oh, one thing I didn’t get to do which I really wanted to do was take in the magic/dinner show at Cesar’s Palace. We (me and the Brit kids) took tour of the area between the magic shows and were most impressed.

As has been reported here and on lexx.com, the Westin in Halifax was actually used for the interior and exterior of the King Tut Hotel.
The Barbary Coast is a nice little hotel casino. It’s only 4 stories and is almost lost between the Flamingo and Bally’s. No need for roadmaps and directories like at MGM. It’s right across the street from Caesar’s and the Bellagio. In fact, if you get a room on the Flamingo Rd side of the building, you can watch the Bellagio water fountain show from your hotel room.
(The above was an unpaid endorsement for the Barbary Coast, but if anyone wants to send me there again, I won’t say ‘no.’ )

I don’t know about any Lexx related stuff going on in Las Vegas, but I do have a few ideas for you that you & your new husband just might want to see & do while you 2 are there. I’ve been to Las Vegas in the past 4 yrs (1998-2001) & been to a lot of different hotels, done a lot of touristy things & seen a few shows; I had a whole lot of fun & I only went Gambling my 1st yr I was there.
Here are a few ideas to make your Las Vegas trip worth while: dress light-it gets pretty hot there, eat at buffets & Food Courts as much as possible, ride the CAT as much as possible or on the way back to the MGM Grand, do a lot of fun things & by all means have tons of fun. I’ve gone to the Star Trek Experience-Las Vegas Hilton, Gondola Ride, the Grand Canal Shoppes & Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum-Venetian Hotel, Museum of Tutankamun & the Search of the Obelisk-Luxor Hotel, The Lion Habitat-MGM Grand, Forum Shops & Race for Atlantis-Caesars Palace, The Secret Garden of Siegfried & Roy & Volcano Eruption-The Mirage, Battle at Treasure Island, Desert Passage-Aladdin Hotel, & the Eiffel Tower Experience-Paris Hotel & Casino. The shows I’ve gone to & highly recommend are: EFX Live-MGM Grand, Lance Burton Master Magacian-Monte Carlo Hotel,Tournament of Kings-Excalibur, the Second City-Flamingo Hotel, Midnight Fantasy-Luxor Hotel & Rita Rudner-New York, New York Hotel. If you 2 like to dance, here’s a couple, which I recommend: Studio 54-MGM Grand, RA-Luxor Hotel & Cleopatra’s Barge-Caesars Palace.
I hope you & your new husband have tons of fun & have a wonderful life together. Take care & have a great last of Summer & Fall.Lexxians Unite,

If you have a car (which may or may not be necessary depending on what you plan to do), you can’t beat the convenience of their garage compared to the biggies. I thought the service in the casino was really good too. It’s reasonably priced and right in the center of the strip. I’d definitely stay there again.
