Could we maybe have an original topic, now?

How about no scott?come on we have only seen 3 seasons and the next will be only 24 hours how can they possiblly answer all the questions about lexx especially since they are planning to have it more humor oriented

I really really hope it doesn’t end! Fair point about shows that overrun and that, but all the other shows like Star Trek, Buffy and so on (and don’t get offended, now), are almost always formulaic, not really bringing anything new with each season. In season 1 Lexx was a strange hybrid of sci-fi and fantasy, the show structured round 1 hour-plus movies; season 2 seemed more sci-fi to me, and about as ‘normal’ as Lexx will ever get, with each episode being a seperate story; season 3 spun the fantasy-o-meter all the way to the top, with a twin set of bizarre, almost magical afterlife planets, and was structured around one continuous story thread. And with season 4 apparently set on modern day Earth, you can see that each series has put a new spin on the original premise. So I don’t see how it could possibly get boring, not for a few more seasons anyway.

I think a far more pressing concern is Mike McManus turning all wrinkly.

The risk is that series 4 being Paul Donovans last series, LEXX could end after series 4!!! But perhaps thats way they brought in new whrithers!!!

I think Lexx should go on to season 7 or 8, then make more movies. Too many great sci-fi serieses have been cut short in the past. Lexx should be around long enough to reach its full potential, but not so long that its quality deteriorates. Future seasons should never be connected like the episodes in season 3, but rather like the season 2 stories, with an occasional two or three-parter.

I too would hate to see the end of Lexx after 4 seasons. However, as a long time Sci Fi fan, it would be even more sad to watch the cast degenerate the way they did in Star Trek. I would much rather they quit Lexx while it is still flying high. I also would enjoy the possibility of a big screen Lexx. It could potentially get me into a theatre. Last time I did that was when Mel Gibson did Hamlet. I am sure much of what happens to our fave show depends on how season 4 stacks up. I’m sorry Paul Donovan is leaving.

I think Lexx has a long way to go before it has been on too long…but in the end it’s not up to us.I just hope all involved want to keep making it!

Okay, I’m kinda in the dark here, too. When did Paul say he was leaving, Crusader? If you still have it or know where exactly its at, point us to it.

As for Lexx ending? Selfishly enough, I’m still not ready to say goodbye to ongoing Lexxiness. But, when writers begin to lose their enthusiasm for their creation, it really starts to show up in their work. So, if the Beans are not feelin’ it anymore, then they should just pull the plug. But, I’m for feelin’ it as long as they’re feelin’ it.

I’m on the bandwagon with you on that point, BlackCloud. Shows should end when the creators are ready for it to end. If it’s just not happening on the creative side, then it’s painful to watch a show because it’s obvious that something is missing.

okay okay you are right, i do remember reading that, which i took to mean that the beans were not going to let lexx drag out more than four seasons that is why i have not really been speculating beyond season 4…when you said donovan was leaving i thought you meant before season 4 was finished and that was why i was so surprised…

I think Lexx should stop now. When a series is at its best it should stop. But you are right…how can it possibly get boring?
I just hope we get another Divine Shadow type villain. It would be kewl if the president of the US is going to be like that!

But what is the next series was even better? How can you tell what the future will hold?
It could be said that Startrek went on too long, but it was a very different series with a more rigid framework. If Salter could produce another 4 series that were just as good, or better, than what we already have then why not?

I can’t wait for the show to deteriorate then the writers can fall back on sex and violence . Isn’t it time for Xev to change skins?

Your probably right. Show airs 10 pm on Mondays on east coast and I’m usually to beat to focus. Heck, it took me half the series to realize Xev changed hair color.

What ruined the second series for me was the weak plot. The plot in the first was VERY mysterious and creepy(hooray!). I hope the
plot in the 4th is going to be good.

i think i liked season 3 as a whole although there was less twisted humor, it was also more of a whole whereas 2 was more self contained…i guess to summarize, i liked where they were going in season 3 but i was not always captivated by how they got there

Well – since I’m VERY new here – I shall keep my rantings fairly low key. I, for one, am glad we have seen the last of Fire and Water. Prince was becoming tedious. I can’t wait to see what the crew do on Earth.

You wont be rid of Prince that easy!!! Hel be in series 4 to! And I think hes stay will be long! (I had a dream about series 4 last night)

yeah, princy will be prancing through at least part of 4, but crusader, if you are starting to have visions about lexx, i think you need to take a small vacation(perhaps to halifax!)
