I think you might be barking up the wrong tree here Katten, we’ve had people in the past using Divx ripoffs, and to be honest not many of us like the idea of doing that.
Mainly because Lexx is a program that really does suffer from piracy, they don’t make huge amounts of money from the program
and it makes it difficult for Salter to give fans Lexx memorabilia.
Do it to any other program, but please don’t do it to Lexx.

lord squishums is right, but i would like to add a reason he did not mention; if the fine people at acorn and contender do not make money off of the dvd’s that they have been contracted to produce for salter, there will be no incentive to do any more ‘official’ dvd releases…and aleck has worked very hard to include all kinds of goodies like interviews and uncut versions for our enjoyment…so while i understand your eagerness to have copies of lexx, i have to support the antipiracy stance while there is any chance of legitimately acquiring lexx …thanx for posting though, love fx (who has just bought a dvd player home theatre system, and is anticipating buying the entire acorn catalogue of lexx to play on it )

You’ll enjoy it Acorn does excellent work. I particularly like the background shots on S2V4-V5. Go to the Chapter select, you’ll see what I mean

I have here a pile of rocks to throw at anyone who makes it impossible for me to buy Season 4 on DVD, from our dear friends at Acorn. Want a piece ‘a me?!

I dont see any problems with trading episodes that are not currently available on DVD.

There are so many episodes that I havent seen thanks to Sci-Fi channel poor handling of this show, that for most people, we actually have to resort to downloading VHS rips.

I’ll keep buying the DVDs, but honestly, you cant blame people for wanting to watch episodes everyone is talking about. For instance, i still havent seen this Brigadoom episode from season2, or even half of season3 episodes. Most of season 4 is a blur to me.

You can thank Sci-Fi channel for these illegal deeds.

I whole-heartedly agree with Evil Lister. As long as the episodes in question are not available in stores, then tape trading is okay in my book.

Case in point: Magic Baby. I taped this episode but it cut off about a minute before the end credits. I didn’t really miss much, but still I would like to have the complete episode. I was hoping they would re-broadcast it right before the new episodes started in January. But I blinked and they aired it at TWO A.M. ON A MONDAY MORNING and I missed it completely. And since I know that SciFi will never rerun that episode (or any other episode) of Lexx after the last episode airs, I will have to wait until it is released on tape or DVD. So someday soon I will attempt to trade for a good copy of that episode from another fan. But the copy I will get will be of unknown video and audio quality. And will also have the damnable SciFi logo in the corner of the screen. If I’m going to go to the trouble and expense of tape-trading, then you can logically assume that I love the show enough to buy high-quality DVDs.

But if you are a videophile and do not already have a means to play and view DVDs, then you need to find Mr. Peabody and the Way-Back machine and return to the 21st century!

The above two have valid points, but it still doesn’t make it right, at least as far as this board is concerned.
You may have noticed that Salter and the Lexx crew have been extremely generous to this board in the way of interviews and trips to Halifax, it is our way of saying thanks by not promoting the use of illegal episode trading, also it means that Salter may have to consider not releasing DVD’s due to lack of funds from piracy.
It not only hurts Salter, but the true fans as well.
If you happen to be good friends then there’s no harm in it, but if it becomes widespread we all end up paying the price.
Blame Sci-Fi all you want (and they are to blame), but you won’t be hurting them, if you want to get back at Sci-Fi, then boycott their own made Sci-FI, but like I said it’s the fans on this board and other’s who will suffer.
And as it appears that many of the cast occasionally view this board, I very much doubt they will consent to interviews if we are merrily pirating Lexx.
So give it some thought guys…

Sorry to be a sourpuss, but like Aurora the situation over piracy makes me a little angry, so much so that I may consider reporting anyone who engages in it on this board…sorry guys, but it is out of order.
