The Great Human Insect War and how the Brunnin-G came to the Light Universe
by Divine Historian Kulz of Ancient History

In the beginning there was One. But One could not hold and gave birth to the universe. Full of Stars and Planets this new universe gave life to itself. Countless life sprang up on these planets. As Time passed and the planets and stars cooled old life gave birth to new life. Among these, two were the most prolific. A race called ‘Humanity’ and a race called the ‘Insects’. There was many others aliens but these two dominated.

As these races evolved and expanded to space and beyond a few things became clear. The Insects were united when their parents began to pass on their essences to their children. This promised that every generation of Insect would have the same imperatives as the generation before. Humans however constantly warred amongst themselves. Empires rose and fell in blinks of the eye. Humans could never unite. Some Human races however thought differently. Many before expanding to space had made peace with themselves and shared a unity unseen. These races were quickly exterminated by more aggressive humans. But one race did not. One race had warred terribly for thousands of years with devastating engines of war. This race was the Brunnin-G.

The Brunnin-G in their infancy could be described as the greatest fighters in all of history. But after a war in which the majority of their society was wiped out a new generation of philosopher arose. This generation brought a new never-ending age to the Brunnin-G. The Great Philosophers taught that human life was sacred, and had derived from the same point since time began. A place known as the “Dream Plane”.
After the Age of Philosophers the Brunnin-G began a great quest to the unknowns of Space. They began to colonize other star systems and eventually like all other races that ventured too far they encountered their first empire. This Empire was like most others and attempted to dominate the Brunnin-G and their worlds. The Brunnin-G refused to fight other humans, and turned their worlds over to this Empire.

The Brunnin-G colonists arrived at home only to find famine and disease as overpopulation was killing them slowly but surely. The Brunnin-G once again focused inward and revolutionized their world by strict policy and evolving their social and economical structures to unseen heights. The Brunnin-G was clearly much more advanced than any other human race technologically, economically, and philosophically.

This brought envy from the other human races in the Universe. And many Empires came to Brunnis in hope of pillage. But the Brunnin-G had enough. Unleashing their warrior inside the Brunnin-G unleashed a terrible attack against the other Human races in their sector. Overnight the Brunnin-G had destroyed all possible enemies.

But there was a price to be paid. Many Brunnin-G could not live with what they had done. Being an empathetic race many chose suicide to what they had done. The Brunnin-G that remained were a mix of warrior philosopher, and much stronger than any Brunnin-G before.

This generation chose never to involve themselves with human affairs again. They had only destroyed their most immediate enemies which only represented a tiny fraction of the prolific Human empires of this universe. But the Universe was far too large for them to ever be discovered if they did not stick their head out ever again.

Time passed and the Insects grew larger in number and it was only a matter of time before Humanity crossed their path. Meanwhile the Brunnin-G had advanced to a point where little escaped them scientifically or otherwise. They had grown to a level incomparable to all other humans. They even began to think of themselves as separate, no longer caring what the other races did. The Brunnin-G still had their military from the previous war however as they would never allow themselves to be invaded. Most wanted this military gone and a Great Shield erected around the planet. Others said this was premature and to final of a decision. As it turns out this argument may have saved humanity.

It was shortly after the 500th anniversary of the last war when the Insects invaded Human space. The Humans were no match for the Insects. Unlike Humanity the Insects were weapons themselves. And in such variety as space station destroying dragonflies and command ships like the Pill Bugs acting as a Hive Mind for the rest of their fleets. Humans also had to rely on slow communication and since they were not united they quickly fell.

The Brunnin-G were invaded as well, but things went quite differently. The Brunnin-G pummeled the Insects and for the first time in their long history the Insects felt fear. The Insects tried everything their race could do and nothing would defeat this Brunnin-G. Other humans were easy to defeat, the Insects never had any trouble. But every battle in every zone of every sector against the Brunnin-G spelled defeat for the Great Insect race.

They studied what they could of the Brunnin-G and realized against all their instinct that they would have to make peace lest they all die.

The Brunnin-G accepted, not wishing any more loss of life and no longer caring what happened to the rest of humanity. It was years later when the Brunnin-G found they were the only remaining Human race left in their Universe. But the Insects seemed to be honoring their treaty.

Back on Brunnis there was uproar as the full weight of what they had done hit them. The Elders claimed they had sold out Humanity to a race they could’ve defeated. No Brunnin-G felt there was any redemption. They sank into a pit of despair thinking they were alone forevermore. Ironic that they had finally gained what they had always wanted.

Two of the Brunnin-Gs best thinkers went to work studying the remains of some of the Insects they had captured. They ‘tapped-in’ to the Hive-Mind of the Insects and saw their final plans. The Insects had no intention of keeping their promise to the Brunnin-G. The Insects had discovered another Universe, parallel to their own. The news spread quickly over Brunnis. A new Universe filled with Human life, how could they have missed it?

They focused their science quickly on the task of finding this universe. The Brunnin-G were the most advanced intelligent race to ever exist and they rapidly uncovered ways of communicating with the other Universe.

They found much more information in the “Hive-Mind” then they had previously. Among this information was that the Insects were always aware of this other Universe. They called it the “Light Universe” and this universe the “Dark Universe”. They also had a plan for a great leader who would come when all humanity was defeated and fed into it. This was called the “GigaShadow” and it would bring about the “Divine Order of Insects” filling the Universe with its offspring. From what they could delve they found that this “Light Universe” had thousands more human races than the “Dark Universe” and perfect for what they had planned.

The Brunnin-G attempted to stop these plans by attacking the Insects on frontal attacks rather than the defensive attacks they had always done before. But the attacks came too late; the majority of Insects had made it through a large portal into the Light Universe. Some Brunnin-G followed but were destroyed in the transition not having the technology or understanding to pass through correctly.

With the collective effort the Brunnin-G found they could “bruise” space-time enough to allow one person through. They could do this several times but only one person could go through at once. Because of this there was no way the Brunnin-G could move ships and equipment through to fight the Insects.

The communication between the Brunnin-G and the Light universe continued, and the Brunnin-G became friends with the home planet of the largest Empire of the Light Universe. This race was known as the Astral* Race.

*Note today there is many acceptable spellings; Ostral-b Austral-b Astral-b, due to the fact the old name was lost centuries ago

The Astrals explained they were losing fast to the Insects but the information and plans the Brunnin-G had sent through had prevented their defeat up to now. But things were looking worse every day as the Insects implacable advance continued. The Brunnin-G began to send their greatest generals followed by their greatest engineers. These Brunnin-G built new ships for the Astrals and their empire. The Generals made the plans and quickly the tide turned.

As time passed more and more Brunnin-G were able to pass through including some of their best pilots. These pilots trained and led Humanity in some of the greatest battles of mankind. It is rumored that one of these leaders made it back to Brunnis and had his memories uploaded of one of these great battles. The rest of the Brunnin-G were trapped in the Light Universe however. While they still could communicate they were forever trapped, but not for long.

Finally the Insects were destroyed, and more than half of Humanity of the Light Universe with it. The Brunnin-G had led humanity to its finest hour. And having atoned for their crimes finally the Brunnin-G could fade into history alone in the Dark Zone. What the Brunnin-G did not know was some Insects remained in the Dark Zone as well, and they were not happy. These remaining Insects slowly crept up upon the Brunnin-G homeworld and rather than futile attack, they threw their might at a nearby planetoid so large it almost eclipsed their Sun. With enough momentum now they crashed it with themselves into the Brunnis Sun.

It was too late for Brunnis, their Sun
would go Nova in a matter of years. They did not wish to leave and instead chose to either find a way to fix it, or die. There were others however that felt differently. They felt they should join this new human race in the Light Universe. This Empire known as the Astrals were much like the Brunnin-G and not like the evil humans of the Dark zone. Just as they discovered a way to save their Sun indefinitely, they began a great discussion.
The question was: Should the Brunnin-G forever leave their home for this new Universe? The answer was surprising. Most Brunnin-G felt they should, and those that didn’t quickly changed their minds as their world began to change with the new light of the ever-changed Sun of Brunnis. Finally in a great ceremony the Brunnis culture forever was left behind.
The story does not end here however. The Brunnin-G were eventually betrayed by the Astrals and forced to destroy them. Such an act forced the Brunnin-G to leave humanity forever and hide behind a great shield where they eventually discovered immortality. But that’s another story…

Very interesting history, LL. You should expand on this, because it’s obvious you put a lot of thought into it.

Actually I didnt hehe :/. Just some rough ideas. The only things Im really sure of is that the Brunnin-G must of been **** on time and time again by humanity. That and Im sure of the fact that the Brunnin-G put up their shield in the Light Universe due to the humans there going back to fighting each other. I think the connection between Astral-B and Brunnin-G began during the war though. Thodins clothing is very similar to Kais only evolved slightly? Plus the Astrals remember the Brunnin-G and keep their prophecy alive again somewhat indicated in Series1. So I truly wonder what happened. It would make sense that the Astrals were a big part of bringing the Brunnin-G here. After all why would they leave their Universe just cause their sun went nova?

And why didnt the Brunnin-G colonize and expand? I personally think its one of two things. One, they realized that no amount of expanding can bring you closer to home. And home is where the heart is and all that. I’d rather believe that like all humans they had to evolve by learning. And after their first expansion they were forced into war with other humans. Something the Brunnin-G find sacrosanct.

Just some rough ideas, it was fun writing it.
