So, how do you think he will do as the new Doctor? Personally, I don’t know as I never saw Casanova. Has anyone here seen it? 😕
1st July 2005 at 3:50 pm #75082elfwhistletreeParticipantWell, I though David Tennant was excellent in Casanova – which was fluffy
but fun, with soft porn tendencies and some nice ideas – assorted friends of
mine enjoyed it too so it must have had fairly broad appeal !Since Dr Who has acquired a whole new erotic/romantic sub-text since when I
was a kid, I think Mr Tennant will slip into the role nicely – of course
only time will tell3rd July 2005 at 12:42 am #75087AnonymousGuestI guess that Dr Who has always tried to keep up to date with social situations such as the bisexual captain jack. Jack is definately a strong charector, worth keepgin (typing while drubk) and from what I hear not least from elfwhistletree Tennant should be a good Dr although he has strong competition
3rd July 2005 at 8:18 am #75088corvinaParticipantHe looked ok from the glimpse we got on the last episode! Agree with you Kai about keeping Captain Jack – liked the kiss there cap’n – the show was actually really good and I miss it already. Saturday nights here in the UK were cool for a while…Dr Who then the Dr Who Confidential thing filled in the gap before Farscape..hell there was even Enterprise (which I, not being a trekky really rated) the next day on channel 4.
Shame Dr Who has to be pitched at a ‘family’ viewing slot because imagine it if it was to slide down the Lexxian greasy pole into the Dark Zone (which it seems to be longing to do) — I’d like to see the Doc develop his quirks/perversions- hey maybe they should line up Dieter Laser for a Patrick Troughtian type next generation!.
I never thought I’d say this but thank god the BBC brought it back.
29th December 2005 at 8:53 am #75907spooookieParticipantWell I watched the Christmas Episode on sunday and thought he was Superb!
I was a big fan of chris Eccles but from what I have seen of David I can see him bringing something extra to the part,The way he Questioned himself while swordfighting the Alien and got the right Mixture of Humour and seriousness in his Brilliantly delivered reminded me of Tom Baker
The great thing is it looks as though he’s going to play the Doctor for some time to come too,so we will be able to get a good deal more from his character
So yes,in my opinion he was Marvelous!29th December 2005 at 9:59 pm #75910corvinaParticipant[quote=”spooookie”]Well I watched the Christmas Episode on sunday and thought he was Superb!

31st December 2005 at 12:01 am #75915elfwhistletreeParticipantTasty, tasty – very, very tasty.
I liked all the Arthur Dent references – apparently the apple and the satsuma come from the HHGTTG adventure game.
“Ginger – I always wanted to be ginger” is a quote from Terry Pratchett’s Greebo, I believe,
And the Prime Minister’s call at the end was a nice touch of darkness/realism to balance rather a soppy ending.
Kids were very keen to watch the episode for a second time too – although Captain Enthusiastic had to be shushed to stop him quoting the dialogue two seconds ahead of the actors – first viewing clearly made a strong impression.

24th April 2006 at 8:45 pm #76269lizardParticipantI am sooooo behind the curve here!! I have caught a couple of the “new” Dr. Who on the US scifi channel– enjoyed it! But now find you all have moved on to a new Dr already!! I am just getting used to the old new Dr.
He seems to be getting younger and younger!

29th April 2006 at 7:33 pm #76289nursewhenParticipantJust watched the 3rd episode of Dr Who, Tennant style. I was starting to have my reservations because his Dr is so frantic and fast paced after C.E. (There’s no time for those ‘Whooey’ moments which we used to get when the theme tune was sung in that spooky way by a female voice.) However, having been moved to tears by this episode, I think I’ve made the transition. After all, the joy of the doctors is that each is so different from the last.
