Some peeps, some peeps never learn do they? 😆 If it’s not in front of their noses they don’t believe anything you say. I read other BB’s and it is this way now it was this way then and will always be with our kind. Funny, though they do not know they are puppets on a string then when it comes to they motion under the surface of things.
Yes, sometimes what can be seen is just what is there; it’s appearance. A cigar is a cigar. However, there are many other things that cannot be seen with the naked eye. And it is IMO very typical to resort to label something to understand it, and while labeling it, projecting emotions upon it. For example, Adama labels Leoben. Is this soo bad? Depends on the situation. The result was the same, Leoben ended up dead. Did he complete the mission which was sabotage, absolutely! Is he evil? Depends on which side of the fence you ride. if Leoben had nothing to exploit, then he would be evil but none of these characters are perfect. Truth and Lies,

that Cylons are not lifeforms but machines
their only purpose is to destroy the rest of humanity (nope)
they are evil, and manipulate and lie.
Ah but Adama lied about Earth

Roslin lied to Leoben
Why aren’t they evil? Accused of trying to manipulate, mislead, and separate. Why is separating the ships for a nuke search more dangerous than looking for Starbuck? Oh, but one involves a “Cylon” and one a human.
Why is talking about “God” and a belief system that belongs to a Cylon more dangerous than talking about a pantheon of gods? Because the former is radically opposed (but not really) to prevalent thinking.
it all rests where you are in relation to the situation. If you could do what Leoben said he could do, which is to float above it all, and not be invested in one way or the other, who would look more human to you, the Cylons or the Colonials. And human not in physicality but in the higher elements of understanding, intelligence, mercy, justice?
I suppose you could label me as a Cylon too at times and at times human because at times I feel emotional and angry and scared, very strong emotions, and we react many times through these emotions, but if given time we transcend them and got to a Roslin state, which to me is brilliant. You take the line as far as it will go and you cut your losses and move on.
You cannot be anything you do not allow yourself to be. May be Adama should have told Starbuck this instead of the “this is a tricky Cylon” routine. I’ve been called some awful things in my life and I react like most humans, with anger, with hurt… but then I step back and say to myself….”Is it true? Do i believe it?” I run it through a couple of times, look at it from their angle… what my words and actions may have conveyed to them. Then i either accept or reject it and if they were wrong, I forgive them because they don’t know me. they have issues going on, they are frightened, or angry or jealous of me, or projecting, and I move on.
