Babylon 5: Cultures: Gaim
The Gaim are a bunch of really hoopy people! They have an appearance that is determined by their queen. only the Gaim ambassadors for instance, have the appearance of humans. Actually the Gaim don’t look like humans, Ok they have the rough shape of Humans but they are characterised by having a very ugly face and two fingers sticking out of their nose.

They are also a bunch of squabblers but tend to shy away from direct argument commenting on the views of others before venturing an opinion. They speak with a hand held translation device and you must therefore exercise patience during a conversation.
They breathe a different atmosphere to the oxygen/nitrogen and must wear an encounter suit. If you were to meet one in a pub, you’d ask, “hey pal, where did you get the hoopy motorcycle suite!?” The Gaim would answer through his/her/it’s orb-like translator. You might also mention, to other drunk friends, that the Gaim talk balls!
Councilor G’Xan says the Gaim are not humanoid in ANY way. The Gaim are masters of genetic manipulation and are ruled by the Six Queens. Before making contact with offworlders, the Six Queens battled.
When the Queens finally discovered alien races, they stopped infighting and formed a loose alliance. Since most sentient races in the galaxy were humanoid, they created a specific brood of Ambassadors with two legs, two arms, and a single head. This was to help them relate to the other nations of the galaxy, ie. so that the other races didn’t run away in horror at the first
sight of a Gaim.
As far as I can tell, the Gaim are without humour excepting of course, for their physiology.
