Not sure about the rest of you guys, but I’m ready to do battle like a Brunnen G warrior, by this I mean doing our bit to get that spin-off we all want.
Lexx was more than just a programme, it brought together a unique set of people, the creators, the actors and us the fans, we have a great community.
And I hope that someone starts something that will see all of us get back together for more adventures, something that will see our dream of a spin-off come to fruition.
I’ve said it before, since I came to this board I’ve noticed how different we all are to the common garden variety Sci-Fi fans, and that can be attributed to the difference Lexx was to all other Sci-fi.
Whether or not we see this spin-off, I doubt we will ever see anything that could acheive what Lexx has acheived, I’ll miss Lexx, it was unique.
So if fan power can get a spin-off then I will be behind any effort to get it off the ground, let’s hope this happens someday…soon.

Hey, Squishy! Long time, long time ! I couldn’t agree with you more. I believe the fans of Lexx are as unique as the show, its creators, and its stars. I believe Brian has asked people to hold on and wait for his nod before we begin with the rampaging pens, again. I’d like to think Atlantic Alliance is smart enough to know when it might have a potential hot commodity in its fold. But, let’s keep our pens at the ready, just in case we need to begin an organized effort. [emphasis on organized.

theFrey made a really good point recently. For now, just write a letter to SciFi Channel (or whatever) and ask them to keep airing the show. The viewing of reruns are important.

Totally agree with the Frey and FG, when you write to SciFi channel ask for Lexx repeats at a better time! There is no point in demanding a spinoff from them now. If you really want to give a spin off or a movie a real chance of happening, you have to help expand the Lexx fan base to a point where more Lexx makes obvious economic sense.

In the meantime, the Beans and the actors really do need a break. Most of them are obviously totally burned out after 7(?) years of doing this. Burn out is an occupational hazard in television especially working with the time and monetary constraints in play here. Give them a chance to decompress and recharge by doing other things. In a couple of years they may be ready to think about Lexx again–and who knows, if the Beans come up with an irresistably brilliant concept for a movie–and get financing for a full scale theatrical release–they might even be able to convince all the actors to come back one more time.

It appears that Brian is eager to do a spin off, but that will take time as well. He needs an updated concept, new creative staff, financing, broadcast venue; those kinds of packages are not put together quickly, and I’m sure he has a sophisticated sense of the process. As Black Cloud says, he will let us know when he needs our help. And that spin off may end up being something that’s not at all like the Lexx of old, especially with new writers and producers.

So how do we expand the fan base? Obvious start is to get the SciFi Channel to show the whole series again at a time when people can actually find it and watch it. Let’s face it, it’s never going to be in the 8 PM time slot, but a Mon-Thur midnight slot wouldn’t be bad. It’s certainly worth a try.

And then of course you have to get new people to watch it. That’s a long-term campaign that would take some imagination and perserverance–and as Black Cloud again says, to be effective it needs to be organized…and that’s a whole ‘nother topic.

Sorry for rambling, but all this pent up energy being expressed all over the place should have a fairly specific focus to do some good.

Thanks for the good suggestion.

I just mailed a letter to Bonnie Hammer at Sci-Fi (US), respectfully requesting that they continue to air Lexx, all seasons, and that a better time-slot would certainly continue to bring in new viewers.

I’ll email Sci-Fi too later.
