Participantwow, do any of the love stories on buffy end up well? and how about the musical interlude with anya and xander if they had gotten married? excellent episode guys, especially with Tehoflen warning all of them once again…what about spike, any ideas on where that’s going? i have to admit, this season is keeping me glued to the couch and waiting to see what happens next, but i can’t help wishing for just a little more humor, although the screen with the naked woman cutout on it and xander’s barcolounger did have me giggling…

What? You didn’t think last night’s episode was funny enough? Man, I laughed myself silly through most of it! The flashbacks to 880 AD were hilarious (“I don’t really talk to people. Well, I *do* talk to people, but they don’t talk to me, except to say ‘take your items made of fur and your literal interpretations to the other side of the river.'”), Tehoflen was — as always — a scream (“We can see what Little Miss Hacks-a-lot wants…”), and even the whole emotional “I’ve got to kill Anya” scene was funny.
Buffy (to Xander on her duty to kill Anya, and on killing Angel): “I would have given (begins sobbing) anything to stay with him…and I put a sword into his heart because *I had to*.”
Willow: “And *that* turned out all right!”The flashback to the “Once More With Feeling” episode was terrific. Great lyrics (Joss didn’t write this ep, but did he pen the lyrics?), especially the “Anya Lame-Ass Made-Up Maiden Name Harris” line. And it ended just right. Except for the wrap-up, the still-lurking presence of “the old Willow” and some fairly emotional Xander business prior to the end, the whole episode was pretty upbeat. And even the ending wasn’t *that* depressing. Anya’s still not over what happened, and Xander’s still agonizing over his choice, but I thought it ended quite promisingly. The exchange between them was nice (Anya: “What if I’m not anything?” Xander: “Don’t be a goof.” Anya: “I’m a goof?” Xander: “Sometimes.” Anya: “Well, that’s something, at least.”), and the way she kept looking back at him as he walked down the street, at least gave some sense of hope that they both still feel for each other, and that there’s some potential still there (and the fact that she’s no longer a vengeance demon and can’t return to the fold sure helps matters).
Still too early to make Spikey forecasts, methinks.

GuestI thought it was way the best episode yet!
The Anya past stuff was very cool. At first I thought that they were talking in Swedish and then the comic line (when Anya was basically talking jibberish) ‘you certainly speak your mind’ or something like that, was a cracker!
Spikey story. no idea? In this season so far I’ve thought he should be killed off coz he’s just plain boring and then again he’s delivered some terrific lines and been a real key part of the story. Most of the time though, he’s just bloody irritating!
Can’t wait for the next episode!

GuestVengeance demon, bah. That title is just an excuse for nasty tempered demons to be vicious with mankind. Anya made a surprisingly good choice for a character who hitherto has come across as shallow. You’d think over a thousand years she might soak up a little wisdom even if she was a fiend for most of that time. I guess she actually has done so. All that and looks too. There’s hope for Anya yet so there’s hope for Buffy. If Buffy can own up to the terrible choice she made when she sent Angel to hell. Sheer luck it turned out OK. Buffy is not so different from Anya.

GuestHeck of a deal. There has yet to be a happy love story. Xander has said he still loves Anya, but that doesn’t mean a thing. I would have liked to see his marriage go through and actually work. As for Spike, I just don’t know what to think. He has obviously become a blithering lunatic and still loves Buffy. This season is something else.
