Keymasterfirst of all for everyone in the affected areas, my heart goes out to you! please keep yourselves safe! i have been hearing reports from NYC about people having parties in the streets. good for them! they are showing the American spirit in the face of adversity. and i admire our Canadians too! they are going through the same thing! i am grateful that so far no one has been hurt by this tragedy. and i am very grateful that this incident has not been as bad as it could have been.
please for everyone in the affected areas, take care of yourselves!!! stay safe!!!:):):)
i do realize that the peeps in the affected areas probably will not have power for awhile but i do want them to know that we are thinking about them!!!:):):D:D

GuestThanks Mary Beth 😀
But it’s not as bad as it could have been. Our power came back up about 1/2 hour ago. Basically all the power plants shut down as they were supposed to when the power grid failed, there doesn’t appear to be any damage, but they have to bring them back on line carefully so that the whole thing doesn’t go down again.
So bit by bit everything is going back to normal. I hope the same is true in the other affected areas.
Of course it wasn’t supposed to happen at all…elmey

ParticipantGot power up here at noon. I spent the morning looking for gas for a generator my parents have a their place. There could be more brownouts; so I may spend more time there 8) . At my house, I have officially defrosted my freezer 🙄 – even though I did not want to. No looting or anything like that, and the traffic is moving well despite no traffic lights. Wow – was the moonlight a very important thing when there is no electricity. Later…..

ParticipantOne conspiracy theory floating around is that it was a simulation for the government to test the response of a terrorist attack. Probably not since it’s exposed a weakness in infrastructure which has the potential to be exploited in the short term.
Hope noone was affected too badly by it.
