Over 100 years passed and y’all still bitching about it!!!, it’s a funny thing but it’s the reverse in this country. In the north they have old fashioned outdated values and hate southerners, rascism is still a big thing up north, which is funny because that’s where all the asians decide to live!!!
And we haven’t forgotten about our lost revenues, we all got together last month and decided we want Florida as payment!!!
So we have decided to give Florida a one year’s notice to get out before we all move in, you can have the UK if you want, coz none of us will be there.
Of course you can still visit Florida if you want, were not babarians after all, but you probably won’t recognise Miami after we have finished with it!!!
But if you want to keep Florida then we can come to an arrangement, just send me 10 million dollars (I’ll spread it around I promise) and you can keep it for a few more years…does that sound fair!?!

I’ll put California to the country and see what they think, we had our hearts set on Florida because the kids wanted Disneyworld.
I like California, less hurricanes, but more earthquakes, but the only thing that concerns me about California is Hollywood.
If we had California, then the british film industry would take over Hollywood, and that would mean no more blockbuster movies, instead you’d get boring period dramas…I think we’ll stay with Florida!!!

Catalina, I don’t know what it’s like where you live, but where i lived it was really bad. The Klan was really active there, and no matter what anybody says the schools were still segregated. I went to public school for a while, there were 200 people in my grade and i was the only white girl. When I when to a private school with grades 1-12, there were about 1,000 people and there was only ONE black boy in the entire school, he was a junior and he was from Africa besides. No one would talk to me in public school because i was white, and everyone hated me in private school because I was Orthodox Catholic and part Navajo besides. I got beaten up nearly every day in private school and in public school I was tripped every time i got up to sharpen my pencil or whatever. i was pushed down a flight of stairs so often that i would wait until everyone else had gone to recess or lunch or home and then would walk down the stairs by myself. Twice things got so bad that I was sent up north to live with my grandmother and finish the school year. Even after school i couldn’t make any friends because that’s when people would refuse to play with me because I was a “yankee”. I was ten when my mom finally moved back up north, where everyone thought i was a hick because i had a bit of a [i]southern[/i] accent now. All’s i can say is: Thank [i]God[/i] for books!!!!!
My new school in Pennsylvania is half black and half white and largely racism free. There’s still blacks that don’t like whites and whites that don’t like blacks. Something i find especially odd is that a lot of black people in my present school are racist against asian people, which just doesn’t make sense to me.
I got one good thing out of my experiences as a child: I’m not a racist, i’m a misanthrope!!! yay, i don’t like or trust [i]anyone[/i] at first. A racist dislikes people because of their race, i dislike people because they’re people!! Another thing to thank God for is that i wasn’t messed up as bad as i [i]could[/i] have been.

been there, brainplague and hypatia, but the best thing about grade/high school is that it ends…unfortunately for many people it is the high point of their lives, so just remember that, and you will be surprised at how much better things are with that thought in mind,as well as when you get to college ( if you aren’t already there)…at least in college, there are all kinds of ‘different’ people eager to start over, and freed of the rigidity of highschool society to accept new people and experiences…and don’t forget us here at the board, your dysfunctional little cyberfamily, we’re all ‘different’here too,that’s why we love lexx [img]http://www.sadgeezer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif[/img]

I like a line in the classic movie “Harvey” – goes something like this: Elwood’s sister is talking to the cab driver, who tells her how the shot Elwood’s about to get will make him “just like regular people – and you know what *stinkers* they are!” There are good people out there, but you gotta trust your instincts. The picture painted of American schools in this country, is that your a brave person to go there, it’s seems like the academic community is losing control of the situation.
It certainly is an eye-opener for me, because the only reflection on life in America comes from film and T.V, it leaves you with the impression that what happens typifies American life, it would appear that some movies representations aren’t far wrong…it’s no wonder Arabs see the US as the great evil, they are probably assuming that life is the same as they see it on TV in America.

i never *ever* completely trust anyone. other experiences in my life, not just school-related, have given me this view. The only person i really trust is my younger brother, who i’ve been taking care of since he was born. and i don’t even completely trust him. it doesn’t matter as much as you’d think though. when i develop a deeper friendship with someone i act just like i would if i really trusted them, but i never do. i’m always ready for disappointment and betrayal. i don’t [i]expect[/i] it, but i’m ready for it. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, after all. but I gotta say that sadgeezers are better than most.
something that happened just last year: my school, whose basketball team is more than half black, went to play an away game at a high school in a district known for its racist sentiment. ’bout halfway into the game, alumni began shouting racial slurs at the team. These guys were like 25. One of the players, let’s call him Leon, was on the bench. He shouted up at them that only idiots still believed that racist sh*t anymore and why didn’t they give it up because nobody’s buying it anymore. One of the racists jumped down the stands and took a swing at Leon. His buddies followed. Some more of the players got up off the bench. An unbelievably short time later, about half the stands were involved in an all-out brawl with our basketball team. Afterward, the players involved were suspended, and the team resigned, virtually en masse, because the instigators got away, scot free, and nothing was even [i]said[/i] by the hosting school. My school placed really low that year because after the best players resigned, our team really sucked.
Anywho- Did anyone else know that GW is projected to have a whopping IQ of 91? The lowest in the history of American presidents. If you have an IQ below 90 you’re mildly retarded. Ain’t America grand? [img]http://www.sadgeezer.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif[/img]

It’s a tough old world out there Brainplague, it’s so hard to distinguish between those who only want for themselves and those that care about other’s, personally I feel giving person the benfit of the doubt without giving too much of yourself away is a safe bet to getting to know people.
You have to be cautious, I always used to look at people who are popular and I wanted to know them, but when I did I found their lives to be shallow and depressing, people wanted to get to know them because of what they had and not who they are.
Anyway, I think rascism will always exist, as it is just another form of jealousy, black people are excellent athlete’s and that gives some reason to be jealous, but there are many other form’s of abuse but it all comes down to jealousy.
When somebody moves from say north to south, then the people from the south will automatically assume that you will have thoughts of superiority over them, even when that’s not true.
They will always think that the place they live in is better than where you came from, and they sometimes want to make sure you know it without expressing it outright, in this case it’s a mix of pride and jealousy.
But it happens wherever you go, as that I suppose is human nature, and as long as you remember that these people are following misguided feelings you can take comfort from it.

Some people are just not that far out of the trees yet – still just flinging poo at each other. In the world of Lexx – everbody gets equally abused!

-Aurora-I went to school and now live in the South of the USA. I’d like to make an important point.
But first, the issue of racism must be set aside for a moment. I won’t argue about it at all, other than to say that it’s always been everywhere. I think racism stinks, ’nuff said?
Anyway, what sucks about the south is rampant poverty. This dates back to the Civil War. During that war, the economic structure of the south was completely destroyed. Afterwards, there was a “reconstruction” period. But not much has changed and a large number of people here are very poor. This has set the tone for relations between north and south. The south has been mostly in economic depression for as long as anyone can remember. This has set in a dismal “hold your own and be thankful for the crud you have” attitude among most southerners.
This is related to the distrustful attitude towards northerns, who are looked upon as interlopers… people who come in with their money and/or superior attitude, wreck things, make people poorer and leave even wealthier than before. This is a story (usually distorted by the above-mentioned depressing outlook on life) that is repeated time and again.
This has fostered a conservative attitude and a lack of ambition for change. Anything new, different, or creative is looked down upon as a horrible waste of time. That’s why there is not much theater or art in the south. The only activity that is generally accepted is going to church. And oh-my-God, don’t get me started with the Babtists. (Yes, there are really churches around here that regularly do snake handling, speaking in toungues, everything.)
There are some exception in the south. Atlanta, Raleigh, New Orleans, basically any very large metropolitan areas. But everywhere else is mostly ignorant rednecks. There are some educated and enlightened southerners, but they are a small minority and they are always categorized as ignorant rednecks anyway because of their southern accent.
Apparently, many people are saying that there has been a huge economic downturn because of the “Dot-Com Crash” or something like that. No one around here has noticed anything different.
Where do I live, you ask? I was born and raised in Oak Ridge, TN. This city is completely different from everything else in the south. The city was created during WWII as part of the “Manhattan Project” which built the first atom bombs that ended the war with Japan. Today, there is a nuclear weapons facility and a national laboratory here. I grew up and went to school with the sons and daughters of scientists from all over the world. The public schools are top-notch. But it is also a really boring place to live.
Me and my curiousty about things, I feel that my curiousty tends to get US Lexxians into a heated debate about Politics, Racism and any other problem the US has…I apologize for this, I don’t know why, but I’m fascinated by other cultures, especially American culture.
One thing that can be said without any doubt, you all are an exciting and spirited bunch.
I think I like Americans because you are so open about yourselves, you don’t seem to want to hide anything and I like that.

Fx, after several minutes of fidgeting with the net I found a site that promised to have news on S4 in the UK, but it turned out to be a dead link.
So I’m still in the dark as to when or even if we will ever get to see it, Itried e-mailing the beans at Sci-Fi Uk and they haven’t responded (probably coz they know I want slice them up into little bits, and I suppose the e-mail I sent about promising to wrap them in sellophane and setting fire to them didn’t go down to well either!!!), so for the moment I have still no idea.
But waht’s more annoying is they are still giving Fire-escape the red carpet treatment which just makes me sick.

As for UK Sci-fi not showing any dates, well it doesn’t surprise me, it seems that both Sci-fi’s (UK and US) treat Lexx with the utmost comtempt and disrespect.
I wonder why they even bother to show it, although I’m glad they do, but it seems like they are obliged too under contract, but are none too happy about doing so.

Lexx and Fire-escape being God is acceptable I suppose, but I would prefer that Fire-escape would be known as the false prophet and that Lexx is the true supreme being!!!
BTW, question for everyone, just watched Gigashadow again, and again I learn something new (that’s five times in 2 month’s, and I’m still picking up new things about Lexx!!!), in it Kai mentions that the Fractal Core was destroyed and that they are stranded in the Dark Zone, what I can’t remember is how they returned to the light universe for S2, to meet Mantrid.
Anyone else remember???

Yep. The Fractal Core is just *one* of the places in which the Light Universe and Dark Zone intersect, but Kai didn’t know that until he received the agenda of the insect essence, and they needed 790’s assistance to figure out a way to get through another spot.

Kai receiving knowledge from the insect essence seems a little strange, if I remember correctly, Stanley had the route to the core in another tooth, and it seemed to suggest that HDS was not aware of the core (as he may have used it or other’s in an attempt to cleanse the planets in the Dark Zone).
And if 790 was aware of area’s that could lead back to the light universe, then why was it left for Stan’s tooth to reveal a location?, 790 knowing of possible entry points in the Dark Zone would have the same
knowledge for light universe.
