The amazing Delia Derbyshire passed away on 3rd July aged 64. She was best known to most of us (that are old enough) as the musical genuis behind the sound of the original Dr Who theme music. Her other works however commanded a great respect within the musical community and she was often hailed as being the greatest pioneer of electronic music prior to Kraftwork.

When I was a little SadGeezer I used to leave the room when Dr. Who came on the TV because the music was so haunting that it frightened me. It’s the only time in my life when I’ve ever been so moved (Except possibly when I was Seven of Nine in that silver costume for the first time).

Our condolences to Delia Derbyshire’s family.

The minute of silence is abruptly broken, “Twelve of Double-D had a silver costume?”

On a more serious note I loved the Who theme especially the remix that circulated the airwaves a few months ago. Any hints on how I can track down a copy?

I’ll look for the theme music and the remix. If I have good luck, I’ll post a link to them here.

Okay, I’ve found several different versions of the Dr. Who theme. I don’t know everything about the show, so I don’t think I can properly identify the tracks. Can some of you Dr. Who fans help me?

I’m not sure I located the remix that CBrate mentioned. Go to the page and find out. With each track, I wrote down the file size, bit rate, and time. Also included a few comments or notes. But my knowledge of Dr. is limited.

As I post this message, I’m uploading the files to my server. This will take some time, so you might want to wait an hour after I post this message.

    Enjoy!

I’ve slightly updated my Doctor Who theme music page. Since the time I first published the webpage, I’ve done some research. I’ve managed to properly identify some of the mp3 files that I found.

    WOW!

    What a whoppingly wonderful page!

It’s the best collection of Dr Who music I’ve seen. I’ve been after the 1963 theme mp3 for years!

    Thanks Flame – that’s GREAT!

It took a little bit of research, but I figured out which one was which.
