SadGeezer
KeymasterYou guys need a general film section 🙂
Anyway, my nephew has been raving about a
film called "Zoolander" which stars (amongst others) Ben Stiller and
Will Ferrell … I quite like Stiller but I most emphatically do not like
Ferrell or at least have yet to find a single film of his which is in any way entertaining. So Channel 4 (UK) showed
"Zoolander", I recorded it and yesterday sat down to watch it.I don’t know if it’s just me but
for the short time I stuck with it (I lasted about 15 minutes) I found it one
of the most singularly unfunny, unentertaining and uninteresting films. It
appeared to be a film about stupid people doing stupid things and I have never
been comfortable with the idea of laughing at the idiots.I mailed my thoughts round to some
friends and few of them had kind words to say:"I had a similar experience of this film. Lots of
people were raving about how funny it is so I sat down and started watching. I
laughed a couple of times to begin with, but when I realised that there was
only one joke which was being repeated over and over and over…… I got bored
and switched off.""I recently watched Zoolander because people told me it
was extremely funny. They were wrong. I didn’t find it even
remotely funny."I had one positive comment about Zoolander, "it’s a
strange beast, the more u watch it the more you like it. Not saying it’s a
great movie but it’s like root beer – the more u drink"For the sake of my nephew (who I
think really wants me to like the film) I have thought about having another go but so far have failed …. based on the
first few bizarre moments I think it unlikely my opinion will change
significantly.Kyu

ParticipantAs I give you my best "Blue Steel" look, I will only partly agree with your post.
It is a stupid movie, but does have some funny in it. It’s for those of us who enjoy absurd comedy. Try again. It’s like watching Austin Powers for the 1st time. Not that funny…but watch it again…
Maybe I’ll challange you to a walk off and then you can answer the question that plagues all of us good-looking sadgeezer types…
"Have you ever wondered if there was more to life, other than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?"
