Finally embracing my sci fi geekiness (Newbie intro)

Seeing as you’ve not got a newbie introduction thread or anything here I’m guessing standard protocol is to do it yourself in your own thread. I’m starting it in this folder because it’s where I’ll probably end up most of the time. 🙂

So..er…Hi. My name is Caroline (although if anyone actually calls me that I will have to kill them…Caz will sufice) and I’ve finally, after thirty odd years of life, decided to stop denying that I’m a sad sci fi geek and I am embracing it. Yes, I’ve admitted it to friends and family…although I suspect that the plethora of sci fi books, DVDs models etc that I own have been a bit of a dead giveaway.

I like pretty much all sci fi, although I am selective on what I allow myself to become obsessed about and I’m incredibly proud to admit that I have no current burning obsessions. I do <ahem> follow the following:

X Files (well did anyway…huge Philer back in the day <sigh>)
Star Trek (most incarnations but I could never gel with DS9)
Stargate SG-1 (RDA = yummy…hey I like older geezers!)
Hitchhikers Guide (hence user name)
Buffy TVS (Spike = yummy)
Angel (Angel = yummy)

Also very into Tolkien and just starting to appreciate Andromeda and Farscape…yeah, late the the party as always. I also have a disturbing tendency to turn all ‘shipper on you but I’m disgusted with myself for this and trying to cure me of it. Oh and I’m apt to lust after some of the fellas a bit but just ignore it, it’s a hormonal condition and I’m having treatment for it. 😀

Pet hates: Text type, because I’m old and stupid and can’t decipher it, being too lazy to hold down the shift key when typing the leter I when refering to yourself, and hypocrites. As I do the first two sometimes that qualifies me for the third and therefore I must really annoy myself!

Folks are kind here, so don’t believe the rumors about newbie hazing. (I just hope my hair grows back soon.) 😉

Hi Caz!

I am a fellow “newbie” to this board as well…having been a lurker for about a month or so first.

I do rather enjoy it.

I finally admitted my sci-fi-ness in public two years ago after attending my first DragonCon convention.

I receive many “YOU like Sci-Fi?” comments – and others such as my signature line (which happens to be my favorite.)

I hope you enjoy this board as much as I am. It is entertaining and, from what I have witnessed, a pretty good group!

I’m a fellow Sci-Fi Fan myself who enjoys Battlestar Galactica, V, Dr Who, Star Trek, Enterprise, Lexx & so on; the list goes on & on. I enjoy watching all these shows & attending convention to meet fellow Sci-Fi Fans as well as the actors & actresses who were in these shows.
