KeymasterDynamic Forces finally called me in to look over the LEXX trading cards! They look great and the copy was much better this time than the 6-card preview set. They had better input this time on the copy. I only had to suggest corrections on about 10 of the cards. The corrections will have to be approved by the powers that be first, but the set is ready to go to the printers, so they assure me they WILL make the April deadline.
The cards cover Seasons 2 and 3. Salter Street insisted they only use images of Kai, Stan, Xev, 790, and the LEXX for this series, but Lyekka, Mantrid and Prince are at least mentioned in the copy. DF is hoping to do future sets and be allowed to include some of the popular recurring guests. There’s been a change to the collector binder. Now each binder will come with a Xev card autographed by Xenia instead of the autographed Kai card that was advertised before. Carl Wydra was hired as the new creative director only a few months ago, so he couldn’t tell me anything about whether or not the change was due to McManus’ reluctance to sign.
As a thank-you they gave me one of the collectors binders (empty of course) and a few uncut strips of the chrome cards, which are all about Xev. I’m gonna have to talk to them about more KAI for next time.
Anyway, I think the cards look GREAT and if any of the copy stinks, you can throw tomatoes ( but NO CARROTS!!) at me, ’cause they took my word for it…..
Oh, and they’ve update the website and the cards and binders are available for pre-order: http://www.dynamicforces.com/htmlfiles/c-Misc3.html

ParticipantWhat’s the difference between the binder, box, and case? I don’t usually collect cards so I don’t know about this stuff. I wonder why the case is so very expensive?

GuestI had this Lexx stuff on order and cancelled it last week because DF never replied to any of my emails and I was beginning to lose faith in them.
Whats the betting it wont be out in April.

JJ, the cards are DONE. I was shown computer print outs that are actually ready to go to press. They have to run my corrections past Salter, and there’s a chance they won’t get approved ( if SS even cares), but that won’t hold up the printing.
The chrome cards are actually printed, as I was given several uncut strips of them as a thank-you. McManus hasn’t signed ANY of his cards yet, and they’re not going to hold up the printing of the base set for him. That’s why the binder will now come with an autographed Xev card instead of the autographed Kai card that was advertised. Xenia was kind enough to sign enough extra Xevs to cover that.
Nick at DF explained to me why we hadn’t heard much from them since before the holidays. They’ve had a turnover in personnel themselves. In fact, Carl, the creative director has only been working there 4 months, so I had to give him some of the background about Uncon2001 and the hiatus the studio went on right afterwards that delayed the signing of the autograph cards, and the cards being offered, then taken off the website last year, etc.
The cards are real; I’ve seen them.

Flamegrape, the binder is just a 3-ring binder with plastic sleeves to hold the cards. it will come with a Xev card autographed by Xenia. It’s got a cool cover with images of all the major LEXX characters on it (Kai, Stan, Xev, 790 and the LEXX).
The box has 40 of those little wrapped packs of cards in it. Each pack has 6 cards. A case has 10 boxes in it. I didn’t write numbers down but the base set is 72 cards + the list card. There are 6 chrome cards (all Xev). I didn’t see any of the autograph cards, but Carl told me they got them back from Xenia and Brian. Don’t know about Jeff H., and I forgot to ask. The base set has several drawings of the main characters, done by top artists in the field, but I’m not a huge card collector, so I have no idea who these people are. Again, I didn’t make notes (smacks head) but I remember seeing about 5-6 Xev drawings, 2-3 Kais and I can only recall one Stan (but I may have had a mental block there…)
Hope this helps.

GuestDo you know any online Trading Card Stores that will just sell the base set? Ive emailed WARP 9 CARDS but they say they wont be stocking the LEXX cards as “theyve been let down by Dynamic Forces before” and “dont think the Lexx cards will sell too well”.

Does the binder come with any cards other than the autographed card? Don’t tell me it’s a $40 plastic notebook?
Oh well, I bought the binder and the box. I might pick up an extra box at my local comic shop. I’ll probably end up with two or more sets.

GuestHere’s some more info on the trading cards. I asked Nick all the questions I forgot to ask the first time.
The autographs cards consist of Xenia Seeberg, Brian Downey and Jeff Hirschfield. No Michael McManus.
The costume cards are on! They will have a piece of Xev’s costume on them. (Now we know what happened to those extra bits when Xev peeled off the midriff of her dress on Fire! )
Nick says overseas fans should harass …er, ASK their local retailers to or the LEXX cards from their local distributors.
That’s all for now!!
PS, for those who want to see the binder, here’s a link to a sales sheet advertising the trading cards and the binder: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1070163657
