KeymasterDoes any of you guys in the US know how well Lexx is doing in the ratings?
It’s been three or four episodes now hasn’t it?, so I was wondering whether it was doing really well over there.
Get your Granny to watch it as well, and anybody who is intimidated by you!!!…Lexx must live.

The ratings for the second week of LEXX were released this week, I believe, and it’s garnered a 1.1 share, which puts it right behind Farscape, who has a 1.2 share. It debuted with a 1.1 share as well, so the audience has been consistent in size, which is good. Audiences usually fall off significantly after a season debut. The number is a percentage of the number of households to which Sci Fi is available, and using the numbers from Season 2’s ratings (that we had on file here), that means that at *worst*, it’s being seen in 660,000 households weekly in the States.

Is that better than last year Aleck? If so, how much.

It’s not good for a major network, but seeing as how Farscape is the Sci Fi Channel’s biggest show, and it’s ahead by only one-tenth of one percent, it’s not BAD by any stretch of the imagination. Sci Fi Channel has fairly low ratings for ALL of its shows (the only thing that beat Farscape and LEXX was the series premiere of The Chronicle, which got a 1.6, I think, and that will fall to the average rating of 0.8 in subsequent weeks, I predict). In terms of the network, it’s a hit. In the overall scheme of things (like, say, by NBC standards), it’s still a “cult” show.
Oh, and I don’t have ratings figures for last Season. We got a package of information about Season 2 when we were first negotiating the contract.

GuestYeah, i bet the ratings would be much higher if it was on a less obscure channel.

GuestWell I think those ratings are pretty good considering how poorly Sci-Fi has treated Lexx. Lexx I think has turned out to be stronger than any of them predicted. By the way my Sci-Fi Farscape conspiracy theory still holds. I have always believe Sci-Fi was bias against Lexx because around their offices Farscape is far more liked because there is so much less to fear from it as opposed to a edgy and risky show like Lexx that could easily anger any one group. I think they want to keep Lexx around but only if its second fiddle to Farscape. I guess in their minds they have a bad looking show that makes their star show look better. But I suspect this season people will discover Lexx has far more appeal than Farscape does.

GuestI’ve seen Farscape, and frankly I wasn’t impressed, the whole thing just seemed like a lame remake of Buck Rogers.
The Aliens in it are laughable and the special effects don’t compare to Lexx, it’s run of the mill Sci-fi fare with absolutley no originality.
Sci-Fi only back because it conforms to the standard Science Fiction genre.
I like to give everything a chance, but like Andromeda it’s never going to be a hit, it’s still fairly new so Sci-fi will stick with it.
If Lexx was given a broader audience then it would outshine it’s competitors, the only snag with Lexx is the sexual content, even though this is an integral part of Lexx, it will unfortunately hinder Lexx’s ability to be shown as a major Sci-fi player.
