well everybody, after a slow start 790 brought s4 back to the lexx we know and love…i vote they keep 790 involved in the majority of the show, the way they did in s2…it’s the repartee/greek chorus of snidery that really kept me happy…and how about the kai two-for-one maneuvers? good to see the bracework again…did anyone notice prince slipping back into the british accent about halfway through the eppy? definitely more silky and evil that way…i also want to see more annoying people getting eaten/braced/blown up and so forth, although i thought cobra showed great possibilities as a recurring character…so is prince basically in his s3 role here, i mean, does he set things up so that people will end up in hell or some equivalent of fire? or is he doing it just out of habit and because it amuses him? anyway, it’s good to have lexx back (and aleck, congrats on the acorn ad, brief as it was!) fx
all i can say is WOW little blue planet was awesome. it was definately a return to s2. all i ask is that 790 go back to xev im getting sick of things like “i adore his stiffness” just a wee bit to graphic for me. other then that it was great. and also it allayed my fears of it being completly focused on earth and they manged to make it seem more Lexxian wit hthe kid hanging on the wall. and waht was it with prince’s smile when the other guy got elected. Also is mantrid alive again or is some OTHER swarm going to start cleaning up the Lexx’s messes?

Oh and I also wish 790 would quit bothering the dead one. Although, if Stan messes with him *maybe* he will be accidently reactivated! I would love to see him fix on Stan. But would settle for him getting back with Xev. [img]http://www.sadgeezer.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img]

I’m guessing the upcoming season will be more tongue-in-cheek funny than last season. Yes, Robot Head 790 is a little much with his crush on Kai, but MM keeps a remarkably straight deadpan face while confronted with that gushing passion! I don’t think it’s any more embarrassing than Stanley’s tiresome non-stop whine about not gettin’ any. I also liked the cluster lizard coming out in Zev. She should have stayed captain for this upcoming season. Can’t wait for next week, we are just thrilled the new season started.

It was grand to see everyone in a new episode.
Having seen inside the studio made seeing the first new show xtra special. I felt like I was back in Halifax.
Little Blue Planet was a fun romp. I was a bit sorry to see Cobra eliminated. The actor playing him was pleasing to the eye. Stan was a little over the top. Great to see Kai doing something besides standing around looking dour. Neat kills!Prince looks mighty good cleaned up with a little longer hair and Xev was fun as well. 790 didn’t seem to have as whiny a voice as last season, thank goodness. All in all, a satisfying beginning.
It looks like we will see more action this season as opposed to previous ones. Suits me!This is the first time since IWHS that Kai’s brace shot off his arm without the attachment like it did when he fought Thodin. Also back is 790’s little green cart although it was in season 3 a little, but they haven’t really used it either since IWHS.
I like 790 being in love with Kai. I loved it when he said, “kill the bitch!” and “slut free” HAHAHAHAHAHA, that was hysterical. You can tell Jeff is definately back in the writer’s seat.
Also of note, the TV Guide Close-up refers to 790 as “709”. The butchers!

i like the tongue in cheek sort of anti american sneering but things really picked up for me with the arrival of 790, i am glad he is back, and i personally find his mooning over kai much more entertaining, and twisted than his mooning over xev, again where else do you have a homosexual robot head crooning to a dead assassin? and i thought mm was in rare form with the brace, although i noticed he never had to clean it off [img]http://www.sadgeezer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif[/img] and i loved the suspicious look on his face when he stomped over to 790 and demanded to know what he was up to!

My first thought when I saw [i]Little Blue Planet[/i] was “Am I on the right channel?” That beginning sequence was really unlike anything we’d seen previously in [i]Lexx[/i]. It was like that first episode of [i]Red Dwarf[/i]’s eighth season where Rimmer’s alive and he and Lister are on board the [i]Dwarf[/i] and we’re all wondering “what the hell is going on?” [img]http://www.sadgeezer.com/ubb/eek.gif[/img]
Anyway, I was disappointed with the new beginning credits. It was pretty much like the season 3 ones only cut short. I was expecting something totally new. [img]http://www.sadgeezer.com/ubb/frown.gif[/img]
The Earth scenes are good. There’s sort of a [i]Lone Gunmen[/i]-type dark yet deviously humerous ethos to the whole government thing. I liked the way that Prince (?) was leading the president on and setting up the whole situation for disaster. When they said that independent candidate won I was half expecting to see a picture of the Wozard or Schlemmi or some other evil freak from previous [i]Lexx[/i]. I wonder what that guy’s deal is. 790 seemed a little more annoying (I was hoping Kai’d fix the robot head so he’d be male again) and Zev seemed a little more naïve, but it’s basically the same Lexx crew we remember. I anticipate future episodes to be like those [i]Star Trek[/i] shows where crew members travel back in time to present day Earth and don’t fit in and such. All in all the episode was good, though a little confusing (how did they end up in the 21st century, why is Prince the director of the A.T.F., what was that dealiething headed for the Milky Way???). I hope to see more like it this season. [img]http://www.sadgeezer.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img]

It’s Priest from Season 3. He was in a couple of episodes. Was on Fire with Prince.

This puzzles me. I’ve heard this from a number of people by now. Why does the sexual orientation of a *sexless being* like a robot bother people? Would it bother you if you found out that 790’s cube of brain came from a woman, and that the head had been a lesbian all through seasons 1 & 2? Does that make 790’s attraction to Kai any less perverse? It’s a robot. It’s not male or female, it simply has a voice chip that makes it sound male (or like Bea Arthur). Get over it.

Aleck has a good point.
People tried to rip me a new asshole on SciFi.com when I posted that 790 wasn’t gay in light of finding out that “he” used to be a gal named “Squeeze Pimmel”. They took it way too seriously. I’m not gay but I’ve always been pro-do-whatever-you-wanna-do. My point was only that Stan really has no right to call 790 a “homo robot head” since he comes from a girl. I was just trying to share new info and then some people even suggested I had made it all up.
Anyways, I like 790 being in love with Kai. I think it’s funnier, especially since they seem to use Kai for all their “dead” pan humor. I think they’re a perfect match. But I’ve been told before that the beans are strictly against 790 falling for Stan simply cause it’d be too predictable. That’s too bad. I also think it’s funny that 790 is anti-Xev now when he used to be “in love” with her.
And Aleck, as far as people “getting over it” 790 didn’t seem as funny last season, but I think it had to do more with Jeff being less involved. 790 was funnier in previous seasons, especially with his rivalry with Stan and always wanting to kill him which a lot of people think was really funny and that’s been lost and 790’s pining for Kai wasn’t as entertaining as it was for Xev and Zev. I maybe wrong but I think that’s what people are displeased about. But like I say, Jeff is back in the seat writing his own 790 dialogue I’m guessing and I can already tell a difference in this first ep alone. But if it is an issue of “uncomfortability” with people then Aleck is dead on, “get over it”. It’s just a SciFi/Fantasy/Comedy TV show after all.
I never said I was bothered by 790’s receiving female programming. Don’t misrepresent me. I just think the robot head was a more humerous character when he was in love with Zev. I mean, let’s face it, half of 790’s purpose is comic relief, and with Zev it was funnier and there were more possibilities. The Kai thing was sorta good to start out with but it got old. Since 790 became female the character has become less whimsical and more mean, and I think that sould be reversed.

Again, Jeff wasn’t as active in the writing on season 3 and I think that’s the difference in the character. Now that Jeff is back I’m sure 790 will be funnier. This new episode completely restored my faith in that. “Kill the bitch!!” “slut-free voyage!!” priceless!!

i agreee with dalek. i think 790 loving zev/xev was much funnier then kai. xev would react to 790’s love by carrying him around, patting him, teasing. kai jsut sits there and says “the dead don’t love”. there was more interaction between the two. thoguh i agre 790 is not any less mean then before as he hated stan and repeatly attempted to get him killed or enjoyed his pain. i just think it was much funnier when he hated stan and loved zev.
I used to be in the “let 790 love Kai” camp, too, until this episode. Now, I say, let 790 go for the dead guy! I was too floored to see 790 had contracted out to have Xev killed, just to have Kai all to him, uh, herself. I forgot, 790 firmly stated “I am a woman!” Who am I to argue? In any case, if 790’s gonna be trying to off people just to “stand by his man,” I’m all for it. 790 will have to be pretty innovative, being just a head an’ all and I want to see if Jeff and the Beans can pull it off.

And, as a shameless plug, let me just mention that for those of you hungering for more of 790 back when he loved Xev, there’s an interview with the Head on the 4th LEXX video release due out October 2. Since it’s for a release of Season 2 eps, he goes on about Xev for a while. And, let me state for the record that this interview marks the first time that anyone on any VHS or DVD that we at Acorn have released that someone says the phrase “hung like a camel.”

790 can think, but can he feel? Does your brain control the way you feel, certainly because it controls the way you think… How many of us have thought we were sick or dying and actually have become ill from thinking about it….The only way 790 could bump anybody off hisself is if he “bumps them off the bridge”…..

I thought it was kinda nice. Stan realizes that he could voluntarily have 790 offed, and can’t bring himself to do it. Not only that, he looks kind of shocked that he realizes he feels that way. It’s a scene that could have been trite or saccharine, but Downey pulls it off nicely.

There was a lot to love in 4.01! I’m getting a kick out of the ATF being portrayed as some shadowy, ultra-powerful organization. I’ve always thought the name “Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms” was worthy of satire. I love the un-American point of view and look forward to US being thoroughly lampooned by the Beans.
Oh, and another thing…Did anyone else catch Pa (Maury Chaykin) as one of the Rainforest explorers? I’m almost *positive* that it was him. He has a line at the end, saying something to the effect of “It looks like a bomb” when it rolls into view on the Space Shuttle.

Agreed! Stan is growing on me, and Downey impresses me as one heck of an actor. I was *delighted* by his doofy face on that war room screen when Prince was prepping the president for the video conference.

Oh, yeah, that’s one of the greatest season-openers of all time. That’s when it started kicking into high gear for me. First, there’s Prince and the doofy President, there’s the kid hanging on the wall, there’s talk of the wholesale slaughter of innocent people, then there’s the talk of the aliens. You *know* it’s gonna be the Crew, you know that they’re gonna make an entrance with this, but just seeing this from Earth’s POV (isn’t this the first time we see any crew member talking to another person from their point of view? Don’t we always see *them* on the LEXX’s screen?) and seeing Stan showing up and asking his normal questions — good food? nice beaches? acommodating females? — is just a riot. Made me want to cheer, it did.

I totally agree with Aleck, this was a great opener…. At first it felt a little strange but then when the “gang” appeared – Stan, Kai and Xev it was like sitting down into an easy chair that was so familiar and comfortable. This show makes me feel like a kid again, with giggly anticipation, I can’t take my eyes off the screen for fear I might miss something, (all the hidden jokes and sight gags) that are planted here and there…. I don’t want anyone to talk to me during that hour even when the commercials come on in case they show a preview of the next episode….Ya know those commercials where you’ve just done something spectacular and they ask, “What are you going to do next??” I’d say, “I’m going to Electropolis Studios and watch them film Lexx!!” Disneyworld, Schmisneyworld!!

Once again, I concur. However.. I think you have me confused with the “X-men” villain “Mr. Sinister” but I see how you could have gotten “miXXed up” MUHAHAHAHAHA!! I just saw liitle blue planet and thought how great the effects looked compared to the cartoonish effects in the previous seasons .I think season 4 will be the best yet lexx obviously has better funding compared to season 2 and three .

hey thodin, and welcome, i dunno about the effects being better, there seems to be more locations, and the flying buttplug carrots are definitely toonish…but i love this season!
