It is a typical Wednesday night and there is nothing on the tube. I have four favorite days. Monday for Lexx Tuesday for Buffy and Angel. Thursday for CSI and Friday for Farscape and Jules Verne. Tonight I’m looking back at some eps from season 2 and just finished watching Stan’s Trial. It was one of those rare episodes where Michael McManus allowed Kai to show some passion. His speech to the Judge on Stan’s behalf and his arguement against executing him were quite moving. Also when he confronted the Grand Prosecutor attempting to kill Stan with the bore worms, I caught a flash of anger in those enigmatic eyes of his! Whew! He also spoke in less than a monotone throughout his defense of Stan. I liked it. The more I watch these things, the more I see things that just slipped by me with previous viewings.

That’s when the Beans know they want to get somewhere – fast forward the plot – without really paying attention to the characters involved.
Season 3 was full of this bizarre character torture. Season two had a bit more in the way of character developement, however, it dragged in new charaters that required setups themselves; they took away from our original players as well. I’m a bit miffed at how things were handled. I mean even tho’ there have been some increadible eps, others have the feeling of being bungled. Oh well. Chalk it up to problems in planning and budget. If there had been more time and money perhaps things might have been different. I take heart in the masterful execution of several choice episodes – Just as I would have (And DO!) with Star Trek.
*Rustam settles down to watch Stan’s Trial again. Good choice… I did love Kai’s speech too! And where Kai has more than one line – that’s what I want to see.*
Oh, and did you get the feeling that Kai was really talking about himself? “Tainted Hero?!”*Oggling and drooling in front of her TV set*

Season 3 was full of this bizarre character torture.yeah you got a point i guess i felt like a lot of time we were all making awkward conversation while waiting for something to happen…nevertheless there are pearls amidst the chaff, kai’s speeches and 790’s zingers are always worth waiting for…

hmmm, somebody’s getting all “het up” for halifax,eh? well missy you can get tony with your oscar wilde quotes (whom i adore) but he was jailed for sodomy and he was still just a famous little guttersnipe (would have made a good kai drooler too no doubt )so i guess he fits in!!
8th July 2001 at 3:24 pm #54949AnonymousGuestOk, you lot got me looking back thru the old s2 eps (while waiting to find out if Ch.5 has decided to show the next part of s3 before or after midnight…)(I’m in the UK in case you haven’t already gathered)
Well; anyway: A question:

Whatever. Thx.8th July 2001 at 10:37 pm #54950AnonymousGuest

That is Lissha (sp?), a prostitute used to lure Stan onto the Celes Pleasure transport. To avoid too many spoilers, let’s just say that Jihana eventually has her very unpleasant way with her. Actually they all looked alike, so all the “working girls” were probably clones or something. I don’t know the full name of the woman who played her at the moment, but I think her first name is Suzanne or Suzette.
