Welp!
After all the hassles of lost posts/memberdetails and tempers, I just had to update the software.
The latest version has some new and interesting features, but also a couple of things which are more uncomfortable.
I guess we’ll get used to them as the days roll on, but I just wanted you to know that I’m also looking at other boards.
I encourage you to play around a little and try out some of the new features.
It’s also now possible to rate members and also send privat emessages to each other.
Your private messages and your rating (ie, what people think about you) can be seen in the ‘my profile’ section of the board.
Also, When you reply to a message, you will see that there are two sections under the text box. Instant Gremlins and Instant UBB code.
These are very useful features but they can only be used AS YOU TYPE.
For instance, as you enter your message, if you want to add a url then click the URL button and you will be prompted ‘enter the url’ (eg. [url=http://www.sadgeezer.com)]http://www.sadgeezer.com)[/url] then the link text (eg. SadGeezers website).
The hardest thing to get used to is selecting these items WHILE you are writing your message. if you ,eave it until the end, then all your cool bits will be placed at the end of the message.
When writing a message:
- First select your message icon
- Then type the start of your text
- When you need to embolden something, select the ‘Bold’ button first, then type the text in the popup box.
- Use the other features in the same way…
[i][b]Ok you can tell that I’m just playing now [img]images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img][/b] It is also possible to place ubb code WITHIN the text in your popup box. EG. While I began typing this paragraph in the italic popup box, I also placed the [ b ] markers to highlight the first sentence.[/i]
Feel free to mess around.
So far, the board seems quite robust.
Oh, and one more thing,
You need to [b]’log in'[/b] when you visit the board otherwise your membership details wont be transfered to you pc (via a cookie) and you will appear to be unregistered.
I think you only have to do this once (unless you have multiple registrations and usernames).
or if you are going to porn and dont want your parents to see and therefore delete your cookies every day. But I would never do anything like that. [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]
