KeymasterI have heard that Lexx may continue in some new incarnation after S4. I was just wondering what you all would like to see in Lexx’s next cycle of time. I personally would like to see Stan and Xev get together and have some kids. I allways wondered what could destroy another universe short of Mantrid comeing back. (Btw this is only for fun)

ParticipantI wouldn’t expect another Lexx series. The story seems to be wrapping up. Even though I’m a hardcore Lexx fan, I can live with just four seasons of the show. “It all makes senseless sense somehow…”
However, as I’ve said in some other thread, I wouldn’t mind seeing a show that was created by the same people. I can picture the ads: “From the makers of Lexx comes a new show that is out of this world…”

ParticipantI don’t know about Stan and Xev getting together but it might be an interesting premise. Oo, the possibilities if there were to be a spin-off…

GuestHmmm…personally, I can see them going forward. I think Lexx will end with the Cycle of Time beginning again, and the recreation of the Light Universe. I’d love it if the band of geeks with Longbore, Stan and Xev became the origin of humanity in the Light Universe….either that, or they stay in the Dark Zone, and give rise to the Brunnen-G! Can’t you see it…Stan as Kai’s ultimate grandfather!?!

ParticipantWell, If they’re gonna conclude the show (as opposed to leaving it open for movies or a sequel series) they’d better have Kai get de-borged, have 790 get a body, and have Stan and Zev get together. Oh, and they’ll settle down on Earth or some other planet, and the Lexx will probably blow up or something.
I’m not sure they’ll do anything with the cycle of time. I think it’s a little pessimistic to say time will end nineteen years from now. We know humans in this cycle will achieve space travel and colonize many worlds in both universes in the next cycle (unless our heroes did go back in time, in which case colonization occurred in a single cycle).

GuestI’d love a new series in the same universe and style as LEXX. As long as it wasn’t like a direct continuation.
I’d like to see Prince,Bunny,Lyekka and other supporting characters return as leads.
And if it happens from what I’ve read at least Stan would be back.

ParticipantIf it were up to me, I’d end the series much the way it began: With a few movies based on the premise that the crew is ALREADY in the next cycle of time (has been since the Light Universe collapsed).
I would bring things full-circle with three movies:
5.1 Insects
5.2 Brunnis 2
5.3 HereticsAnd I know it’s a long shot, but 5.1 is written, and will be mailed off to Salter early next week.

Guest Aren’t we forgetting someone? (except Steven Bell; thank you) What about Prince? I can’t change what’s already been filmed, but, personally I don’t want him to end up permanently dead at the end of the season… he’s too cool!
I’d like to see some kind of history on him. We should find out where he came from, since we’ve found out about everyone else.
Nigel Bennett said in his latest Sci-Fi chat that Prince started out as a common soul up for punishment and he just “worked his way to the top of the food chain”, but I don’t buy that. I want something more specific, like some higher intelligence chose him to be an heir to rule Fire and erased his memory of his last life.
Does anyone else agree with me or am I lone Prince fan just trying in vain to make myself heard? Princess of Fire

GuestPrince should end up with the key to the Lexx, with Stan and 790 as crew.

we may be completely disgusted with prince by the end of the series 4 …a certain actor said that there is a spinoff in at least talking stages that would include bunny, president and stan…it’s out of salter hands as they do not really own lexx anymore, at least that is my limited understanding of the legal backdrop

ah, now you are stretching my limited comprehension, probably aleck and x can explain licensing/syndication, but it appears that part of the deal with us scifi rendered lexx their ‘property’, it is no longer a german/canadian production but is in someway canadian/american…help anyone! I don’t know if Sci Fi owns the series as a whole. One of the main points in the press releases about Season 4 being green-lighted was that the series would have enough episodes to enter syndication. So, therefore, I would suspect that ownership of the series is still in the hands of the production company.
Now, there are a number of other alternatives to explain the situation. On one hand, Sci Fi may have demanded the rights to the characters, and Salter was willing to give them up knowing that they were going to be through with them after this season. I don’t *think* that this is the case, as the merchandising deals have been with Salter instead of with Sci Fi, and if Sci Fi owned the characters, merchandising deals would have to go through Sci Fi.
On the other hand, the terms of the deal for Season 4 may have given Sci Fi first dibs on sequel/spin-off projects.
On…um…my left foot, it may not be that Sci Fi owns anything or gets first dibs on anything, but that Alliance Atlantis (as Salter Street doesn’t really exist anymore) now owns the creative rights to the characters as per the terms of their buyout and *they* may be overseeing the spin-off development.
Now, as AA has a pre-existing relationship with Sci Fi, and has 2 series already in development for them, they may be able to force demands on them as regards any spin-offs of LEXX. That remains to be seen.–Aleck

ParticipantAll I’ve got to say is if there is no Kai, Stan, or Xev, it just wouldn’t be the same. I don’t know how well a spin-off series might do without those characters. But then again, good writers can work magic.
I say again that maybe they should create an entirely new show. Maybe make it similar to Lexx, or maybe make it more serious in subject matter, I don’t know. Lexx established a certain level of absurdity that was more or less sustained throughout the run of the show. Why not make an even more far-out space fantasy show? Load it down with sex! Push the limits even further!

ParticipantNow, before I posted a few joke spinoffs of Lexx, now, with a new series a real possibility, I’ll try my hand at a few serious ones-
The Insect Wars: The story of the men and women of the distant past who gave their lives to save humanity in a series of fierce conflicts spanning two universes and involving dozens of races and hundreds of planets. Sort of like Space: Above and Beyond or the Shadow War episodes of Babylon 5, only Lexxian and with INSECTS!
The Dark Zone: Before the Divine Order took control, the League of 20,000 planets sent a space vessel through the fractal core to explore the Dark Zone. This is the story of those space explorers and wnat they found in the other universe. Presumably, the characters would eventually return to the Light Zone, only to find a galactic civil war.
Heretics: The story of a ragtag bunch of freedom fighters who go against the Divine Order and work to eliminate its influence from the Frontier Worlds/Reform Planets. This could take place years, decades, or centuries before the Fall of His Shadow.
No one can have a clue of what a sequel series(that is with current characters or the Lexx in the future) would be like without seeing the end of the season, but these are a few possible spinoffs that came to me. Anyone else care to try?

Some may have thought I was joking about my LEXX/Lost Saucer/Far Out Space Nuts cross-over, but believe you me, I wasn’t. I think that the comedy potential inherent in the teaming of the LEXX crew (or what’s left of them when S4 ends) with Ruth Buzzi, Jim Nabors, Chuck McCann and the immortal Bob Denver is something that’s too divine for words. Toss in a Twiki robot, and the wacky shenanigans are *bound* to ensue!
But if that is not to be, here are a few:
Waiting For Shadow: Kai and Stan, realizing that the cycle of time has begun again, decide to wait around for HDS to emerge and kill him before he gains power. So they sit around and talk. For an entire season.
The 790 Variety Hour with special guests Paul Williams, Dick Cavett and “coochie-coochie” girl, Charo!
LEXX 3000: Stan and 790 (plus a yet-unnamed robot sidekick) are trapped on the LEXX with no moths to escape on. Prince, having been tossed from his position of power and finding refuge in a subterranean bunker with no way to escape the planet, decides to punish Stan by forcing him, 790 and the unnamed robot sidekick to watch the worst movies ever made. Lots of wisecracking and hilarious in-between bits. (Note to Salter: Construct new robot sidekick out of a cheap plastic gumball machine from Mr. Bulky’s).
More to come as I think of them.
Or maybe not.

GuestHhmmmmm New spinoff possibilites….let’s see if I can come up with something Lexx-like….
1. BackASS BassMasters: Kai hosts a fishing show from the Great Piney woods of East texas….in the nude…
2. Thrashercise: Xev’s foray into the world of excercise video, co-hosted with Johnny Rotten.
3. You bet your Enema: Trivia Game Show host Stanley Tweedle offers us the ultimate in day-spa contest prizes…
4. Bowling for Head: 790 takes us on a frame by frame tour of the best bowling alleys in the deep south…
That’s all I could come up with, but it’s early and I’m still sober..

GuestYes, I had this blazing mental image of Johnny covered in lycra, screaming at Xev while he counted off at the speed of sound…
“1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 COME ON YOU FAT BITCHES!!”
Most pit comes extra….20th October 2001 at 10:53 pm #49617Anonymous
GuestXev and Kai kill osama bin ladin and various leaders of the Taliban, then Kai becomes alive and – oh hell, that’s my fantasy.
Stan as a televangelist. Lykyya eats his cronies and they live happily ever after.
Xev travels through time to pre-colonial Tahiti (those people knew how to live!), on the way having all sorts of adventures in history and finally shacking up with a young Charles Darwin, and eventually ending up in Tahiti with her own personal harem.
Kai goes bonkers again and starts hunting down and killing telemarketers.
Stan shacks up with Bunny, Lykyya and some other girls he meets.

GuestI forgot one: Xev becomes a political commentator for CNN.
She could interview politicians, they’d be safe from the cluster lizard part ’cause no brains!
