Just uploaded the first of a three part review of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
In this weeks show we have some rare footage of the original radio show rehearsal and a clip of Peter Jones talking about the series.
This first part introduces the many forms of the saga and briefly looks at the radio shows, the Stage Plays and the Books.

It was nice to see coverage of Hichhikers Guide BBC Show. The reviewer seemed to completely ignore the contributions of Dereck Meddings and all of the previous work on Space 1999, UFO, and even the Thunderbirds.
Quite the insult to bring up Superman I because of the great work of Dereck Meddings. The effects might look cheesy on the small screen. But on the big screen almost all of them work.
Reviewers of TV shows need to understand that shooting for TV is totally different that shooting for Film. This will still be true until everybody has a 80in Super Duper HD TV. Ummm the year 2040?
I really like the SadCasts.. but you folks need to come up with a FORMAT. A graphic style for the show to follow. Resist the urge to use 3d wipes. All you need is cross fade.
Please get rid of the head sets. You look like rabbits. Get a $100 mic and put it out of frame. Please.
Start thinking of Sadcast as your own TV show. You have almost all the tools to look slick. So look slick.
Remember content is king. Your reviews and inside information is what makes your show better than anything Sci-Fi or ?? can field.
Are you using MSP8 or Video Studio?
Thanks,
GENE

Nope, yer wrong again Gene, Derek Meddings had nothing to do with Hitchhikers, he worked on the old favs like Stingray, Space 1999 etc. and the point is, his work on Superman was simply the same ol’ same ol’ (even though he won an award) – he was one of the old school who couldn’t get his head away from plastic toys.
Rod Lord, who worked on Hitchhikers the TV show, was one of the new breed, his approach was at least innovative! The point I was trying to make on SadCAST was that they had a TINY budget in comparison to the lead films or the time and yet viewers actually thought that the effects were computer generated! – In 1981 – the era of the ZX81 and Atom PC!!
Nobody ever accused Meddings of such things.
Yep, Using MSP8.
