ParticipantAfter watching the hilarious Galacticast’s show on Sci-fi baby names
it got me thinking, We should have our own list! We already have complete character profiles for the best t.v. shows! 🙂
I checked out other sites and I haven’t found a list, although this one http://www.doctornerve.org/nerve/pages/interact/dadababy.shtml
is funny: it spews out similar to real names based on a Markov Chain analysis of the real baby names in their database. Total time waster I know….but I’m bored……

ParticipantHave you noticed how the Deep space nine Actors names are stranger than their Character ones?…Jake sisko-Cirroc loften..Miles o Brian-Colm Meany…..Kira Nerys-Nana Visitor….Quark-Armin Shimmerman…Ben sisko-Avery Brooks etc

Participantyep – i wonder if it is a requirement to have a part on the show?
If you ever watched an old Canadian Show “Danger Bay” (about the ocean) the two kids REAL names were Ocean Hellmann and Chistopher Crab…can’t tell me that was by chance!

ParticipantChistopher Crab… sounds like a garbage pale kid. Some sort of dodgy porn child.

ParticipantGarbage pail kids?!? Wow, that takes me back. I once had a small collection.
Anyways, thanks for the “sci-fi baby names” link, Hollydays. How cool! As chance would have it, my wife and I are expecting our first child…it’s a girl, and she’s due around Halloween. I wanted to name her Aeryn but my wife said no. She can be unreasonable sometimes. Maybe she’ll take a liking to one of these sci-fi generated names? 😆

ParticipantCONGRATS!!!!!!!
Yep – some of the generated names almost sound like real names (while others really, really don’t!)
Aeryn would be a very cool name – although no non-saddies could spell it right 🙂
Ever noticed in the baby name books how many “A” names there are and after that it dwindles down dramatically. I think most parents open the book at the hospital and pick from the A’s…. (although I read the whole book my kid ended up with Aden!)
How about Zooey? ; – ) or Zhann or Chiana?
