This is a place to bitch about your
disappointments, regrets, general
unhappiness, etc. concerning the
world of sci-fi.I know there will be controversy and
disagreement. I only ask that if you
simply CAN’T remain silent about another’s
bad taste, at least be inventive in your
insults. While some insults are classics,
they are also boring, trite, and, quite
often, stupid. Instead of saying “That show
sucks and only dumb ho-bags like it” try
“Only infantile cretins who occupy the same
rung on the social ladder as necrophiliacs
and pedarists would actually like that show.”
The flowery insults are less, um, heated
and still express utter contempt. Hopefully,
no one will get TOO angry because that’s not
the purpose of this topic. This is a place
to rail at the unfairness of a universe (or
director) that RUINED your favorite show and
to share that anger with others of like mind.Have fun.

25th May 2001 at 1:01 am #42006AnonymousGuestI’ll start.
Voyager Series Finale.
The only thing I can say is ehh. It wasn’t
BAD exactly, but it could have been a lot
better. I think that they did things too
fast, they tied up too many loose ends at
once. It makes me mad. They should have
spread a lot of what happened over a couple
of episodes. They didn’t exactly ruin it
but it could have been better. What really
infuriates me is that Voyager is over and
they’re making a PREQUEL! Aargh! I don’t
really care what happened before. It’ll
probably be interesting but I WANT TO KNOW
WHAT HAPPENED AFTER!!!!!!!!!!!! Bleah. Oh
well, the universe has a twisted sense of
humor, and there’s always hope for the future,
but still, BLEAH!!!——————
spoon25th May 2001 at 1:28 pm #42007AnonymousGuestsci-soaps (voyager!!!) has some good episodes but about 50% of them are “character building episodes” now which is just like an oprasoap!!! stop telling us about the character we want to know what happens to the bad guys, the phasers being shot at the invaders boarding the ship, harry kim being killed, for the 100th time and the guy in yellow (red) that we have never seen before beaming down to the planet and getting killed!!!!!

life dont talk to me about life – HHGTTG25th May 2001 at 9:51 pm #42008AnonymousGuestJabba, if gore is what’s most important to
you, then none of the Star Treks are what
you’re looking for. The fight scenes are an
integral part of the shows but they are in no
way THE most important part to the writers.
In the Star Treks there’s always been a focus
on character development rather than action,
though there’s plenty of that too. Maybe
you should try watching the more militant
sci-fi shows like Space: Above and Beyond,
etc. and movies like Starship Troopers, etc.btw, did the UK get the season finale of
voyager or Andromeda yet?OK, on to the next complaint. Andromeda,
season finale. I guess I should put in a

was spectacular, but it was a cliffhanger.
A MAJOR cliffhanger. Rev Bem seems to have
changed sides, the magog are everywhere, Tyr
and Harper have been dragged off somewhere,
Rommie (the avatar) seems to be “dying,”
Dylan is horribly wounded and he, Beka, and
Trance have all been knocked unconscious on
the bridge, Andromeda has been almost
completely destroyed, and they’re in the
homesystem of the magog and trillions of
them are coming. And I’m going to go
completely insane waiting until the next
season.I hate cliffhangers.

life dont talk to me about life – HHGTTG28th May 2001 at 6:13 am #42010AnonymousGuestDespite his lingering popularity, Dr Who has still been absent from TV screens for years which leads me to rename him Dr When or Dr Where. Where is he?!?

Yoda of Borg are we: Futile is resistance. Assimilate you, we will.29th May 2001 at 10:08 pm #42011AnonymousGuestJabba-the original star trek, the one that
was a cheesy western set in space, THAT star
trek? The original was too simple for me,
boy meets girl, boy defeats evil to get girl,
boy leaves girl in dust to get new girl.
Kirk had a new girlfriend almost every episode,
the special effects weren’t great, and the
plot left much to be desired. I think the
only good thing about the original star trek
was that it established a foundation for the
sequel series. The star trek movies were
better, but still-well, it takes all kinds
I guess.CBrate-Your signature is great!!! As for
Dr. Who, as far as I know production stopped
in the 80’s, but PBS (in America) shows
reruns regularly and even has Dr. Who
marathons. I don’t know about the situation
in England though.——————
spoon30th May 2001 at 1:17 pm #42012AnonymousGuestWell Dr Who may only technically *shelved* but I really think that the world is just going to just accept the fact that after so long out of production, with the BBC currently putting no $ in and getting disgusting amounts of $$$$ out of the Dr who Through videos noveld toys etc…IT’S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. We’re just going to have to hold the funeral and move on. It was my favourite piece of media SF of all time for the first 20 years of my life, but you have to move on sometime. Quite honestly I thought that the New Adventures novels that they started producing when the series was *shelved* were better then the tv series anyway. More character developement, more sweeping and complicated plots, and a healthy sense of humour. In a way, taking Dr Who off TV really gave it a chance to grow and mature. All the same, there can never ba another show quite like it I suppose.

Even though it’s been a while since any new episodes were aired, the project continues. There have been 20 Who movies (2 for T.V., 18 for video) since the series entered limbo, and a year or so Artisan entertainment bought the rights to the series from B.B.C. and to the Daleks from the Nation estate (they haven’t done anything with that yet, which makes me mad since this isn’t the first time a new Who endeavour was postponed indefinitely). You can trust that there will be a new theatrical movie and either a television series or a series of follow-up movies before Doctor Who ends with a sense of closure (like what was done with Alien Nation.

31st May 2001 at 9:16 pm #42015AnonymousGuestjabba- no argument from me. While DS9 was
still on it was my favorite show. Then the
universe’s determination to kill us with
suspense struck and the series ended in a
cliffhanger. A tiny cliffhanger but I’m
still wondering what’s going to happen after
Sisko gets back from his sabbatical with the
prophets.I hate cliffhangers.
-Which leads to the new rant of WHY all my
favorite series seem to end in them. Sliders
ended in a cliffhanger. It did get pretty
mediocre in the final season, but I still
wanted to know what happened. Ending the
series in a cliffhanger just made the final
season more crappy. DS9 left you wondering
and even Voyager didn’t do very well at
letting you know what happened after. Also,
if this is EFC’s final season, I will be
completely furious because it ended in a
cliffhanger, too. Argh!!I HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!!!!!!

spoon1st June 2001 at 12:51 am #42016AnonymousGuestcliffhangers are good on BBC as they always show the second part next week as the episodes were filmed years ago

Witchblade, the new series on TNT. I want to
see it really, really, really bad. But I
have to go to Japan. Argh. I’ll miss six
weeks of it but still, JAPAN. Soooo cooool.

spoon7th June 2001 at 11:28 pm #42018AnonymousGuestKirk.
I would probably like Star Trek (original) a lot better if I didn’t have the urge to strangle Kirk so often.
11th June 2001 at 7:14 pm #42019AnonymousGuestDEFINATELY last rant.
Finally someone understands! Kirk should
be smacked, Spock should have gone crazy and
choked the life out of him, Bones should have
tragically “failed” to patch him up, anything
but nooooo of course not.Argh, on to something else. Buffy the
vampire slayer’s over with. I’m not really
angry that she died because I want to see
what that causes but all I can say is that
there had better be another spin-off and
not with Giles or I will be extremely upset!——————
spoon12th June 2001 at 12:32 am #42020AnonymousGuestOkay, I gotta agree with the Kirk getting smacked (or, at least neutered before each away mission ) And, why didn’t Spock go bazonkers dealing with irrational, illogical, inane humans all day. I only do it for eight hours and I’m ready to pull my hair out at the end of the workday! He’s on a FIVE YEAR MISSION and doesn’t go postal? Oh, no, there’s not enough meditation in the world. He must have been doing some form of Vulcan Prozac or something, while Bones (who I loved!) wasn’t looking.
