Welp! They’ve either boiled, been shelled or squashed [b][i]or most certainly in danger of being mashed.[/i][/b]

Bearing in mind that much of the bean’s chatter is complete cobblers, can we believe them?
Can anyone substantiate that the following [i](extracted from the bean chat in sci-fi.com recently)[/i] is true?

Now why would they say that? Are they bored with the show, are there difficulties with the new company (that recently took over Salter St. Films) or are the beans moving onto something new?

Yep, that is pretty much what they said, seems like they want to move on to other things and end the show on a high, even though the rest of us think that there is plenty of life left in Lexx.
Still time to change their minds before the end is nigh, here’s hoping they have a change of heart.

I for one was at least hoping for at least a 5th season of the Lexx. I was entriqued by the story and the complex characters. I would hope while there’s a lot of attention on the show, they could at least oblige the hard core fans with a finale. I love the Lexx…it’s truly a fresh breath of air. The last foreign sci-fi series which sparked my attention was Dr. Who…yeah, it’s been a long time. Hope the Lexx continues…

Welcome Gargoyle!!!
Your feelings on Lexx are the same as mine, trouble is most look at it and go nah, then they finally watch it and realise just what an exceptional Sci-fi series it is, I love almost all Sci-fi, but Lexx stands alone in it’s originality and creativeness.
It doesn’t comply to the Star Trek or Babylon 5 script like Fire-escape and Andromeda do, but because of this it get’s a rough time from the people who air it.
There is nothing you can compare Lexx too in Sci-Fi, and it is so difficult to come up with a premise that’s never been thought of before, but the beans who make Lexx threw the rule book out the window and went their own way.
Which makes Lexx unique, the closest comparison I can make is Star Wars, simply because like Lexx it was truly groundbreaking.
I hope that one day Lexx will receive the appreciation of it’s peers, and they acknowledge that this was the best Sci-Fi programme to grace our screens in the last ten or so years.

I don’t wanna see Lexx end, but I’d rather see it end the hands of the beans rather than continue under someone else’s control.

I wouldn’t mind someone taking the reins, as long as the original writers were still there as creative consultants, if it did happen (doubtful), I would be happy if the beans were responsible for choosing their replacements and making a few guest appearances now and again.
I think Lexx has still got two more seasons life in it yet, it seems premature in regards to it’s end.

Hey, Gargoyle!*waves to the new person*I’m not sure that forcing the Beans into another series of Lexx against their will would be a good thing, really – at best, it would lead to a season of inferior, careless shows, with no pre-planning. At worst, it would have the characters reduced to shells of themselves and then killed, or absent entirely, like with Douglas Adams’s “Mostly Harmless”.
If Season 4 is the last, it will not be without cause – the crew of the Lexx have seen the end of a universe, they’ve been through Heaven and Hell… perhaps, in the ultimate irony, the Planet Earth – which we’ve been expecting to get destroyed from the end of series 3 – will actually be where they can finally find a home. And the last time we see the Lexx, it might be under the control of the army…
Unfortunately, this is the last season of Lexx as we know it. There have been spinoff rumors, but who would they feature? MM stated in one of his rare interviews that he wasn’t particularly interested in doing another season. Let’s face it, he is a big draw for the show. If they went to a season 5, how would the rest of the characters fill the void? I am still hoping that if nothing else, we may get to see another movie or two. Knowing this is the end, I am most curious to see how they end it.
Hmmmm….. At first before Season 4 started I wasnt shocked to hear that Season 4 would be the last but after watching the first 6 episodes of Season 4 I think it would be a shame to end it now. The characters are really starting to gel together. Its a joy to watch this Season. The stories and excellent and there is so much more the lexx could do. Even little almost filler episodes like “The Rock” are good, even touching at times.
I hope they are just messing around when they say they are ending it but I dont think they are. Its a shame because I think Season 4 will probably be the most popular and attract a whole bunch of new fans. Perhaps Michael,Xenia and Brian are sick of their roles. Who knows?
If they do decide to finish it up they can pass the rights over to me and Ill make a Season 5 myself. Im sure I have an old video camera around here somewhere…..
I read in a newspaper article about this and it mentioned that 65 hours is the magic number for a series. Sometimes they will go on for many years, others only stay for one season. Be glad that Lexx became so popular that it ran for [i]this[/i] long.
Remember, we still have…(does some math) about 20 more episodes to go. The story still has a long time to develop. Prince still has a lot more bad things to do. Lombar and his team still have that ship to build. I don’t think the show is even finished being filmed, yet. So don’t panic. Let’s just pray we have a happy ending that will make us all say ‘Wow, that was increadible!’ [img]images/smiles/icon_eek.gif[/img]

I think that maybe the 4th series should be the last, unless they change the concept a little, give the show a completly new style and approach, maybe we could have the Lexx (the Spaceship) grow into something different it is supposed to be organic after all, or maybe get some new cast members, the Beans seem to be very imaginative so I’m sure they could think of something new and original to do with Lexx.
I don’t personally want the Lexx to have any more series because it might weaken the show and the programme could turn into something really embarrassing like Red Dwarf did, or into something predictable and repitive like the X files these days. I think the reason why a programme like Doctor Who managed to run for so many years is because they changed the style of the show every couple of years (sometimes the style was bad, like the last series of Colin Baker’s Doctor and the first series of Sylvester McCoy’s so perhaps that wasn’t a good example)
Good news everyone!! I didn’t want to mention it earlier but the deal is done and the ink has dried on the new spin-off series. I had met with Paul and Lex recently and they have decided to pass the torch on to me after we discussed some of my creative ideas for the show.
Let me give you a brief run down:
First off it won’t be called “LEXX”, we’re not actually sure what we want to call it yet. It will probably be a toss up of what we want and what SciFi likes.
Jeff will be attached. He says he will be glad to be out from under the tyranical thumb of Paul and Lex [img]images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img] Jeff will also be back as 790.
Brian will be staying on as well as Stanley Tweedle, but he will no longer be captain of the LEXX and we will see a fond farewell to his famous red jumpsuit.
Ok the bad news:
Xenia and Micheal will not be back. They along with Paul and Lex will be moving on to other projects.
The LEXX itself will not be part of the new show but to discuss that further would ruin the end of this season.
It won’t neccessarily be a continuation of this current season, which will make more sense when you see how this season ends. It will be more along the lines of what the new series Enterprise is to the latest Trek shows.
Have no fears though, the new show will be ready for the neXt big “Summer of SciFi” and it will also be 24 episodes. I am not a member of the board (yet)– I just discovered LEXX a couple of months ago. I heard on the Trek BBS board (there is a Sci Fi/Fantasy board on there) that LEXX was going to end with Season 4. So, I wrote to [url=http://www.lexx.com]www.lexx.com[/url] and Salter Films. I got this E-mail back from Salter Films today:
I took out the person’s name for privacy’s sake. It said:

Salter Street Films”So, please, people– if you want to see a 5th season– lobby, lobby, lobby. The time is now. Write to whichever of your channels carries it. (Such as Sci Fi in the U.S.) Or if you don’t get cable, still lobby– maybe some other station will pick it up.
Here are the addy’s again for the Sci Fi channel– they seem to be the most critical to the show’s survival. Write them now! Even a few short words will probably be sufficient– esp. in the Subject Heading– like “We Want 5th Season of LEXX!”

I hate to tell you this but there is absolutely zero chance that there will be a 5th season. I’m not sure, but I think if you take a look around here you should find an article about this. It’s not that the SciFi Channel wouldn’t pay for another season. The makers of Lexx themselves decided to end it.
But look at it in a positive light. Paul, Lex, and the others will work on other things that will be just as entertaining as [i]Lexx[/i]! [img]images/smiles/icon_wink.gif[/img]
