A power far greater than you or I has fallen upon me, like the shadow of one of the statues of the Patriarchs on one who comes to their monuments to pray. I have met Rock Hound. I am testament to the grace, the wisdom, and the glory that lives in his eyes.
You see, not one standard year ago, Rock Hound, then a lowly asteroid prospector for the A.T.C., partook in a survey mission to the mystical and mysterious realm that is the Moriah Expanse. When he descended upon the small yet great planetoid that is officially designated ZBL-616 but wise men call the Cluster, he was touched by something truly beyond that which is human. At the time, he spoke not of the miraculous occurrence, but later, to me and his other disciples, he recalled the supernatural experience by which he was transformed into our glorious savior. He says, shortly after discovering the existence of endolithic cyanobacteria (surely the fingerprint of the One that provided all life), he was overcome with a great feeling of joy, as if a spore from a Dreamweaver Plant had caught hold of his psyche. Then he had a vision. He saw a vast metallic sphere hanging in space. He knew immediately that what he was seeing was the center of the Universe. Then, an aperture on its surface opened and the brightness within shone out. And this light shone on Rock Hound and penetrated into every cell of his body. He felt cold, then warm, and knew something had entered into him.
A short time later, this lowly asteroid prospector of Omoda 8 began drawing up equations relating to quantum mechanics and unified fields. He terrified the Elders with his preternatural knowledge of particles and their motions, and the wise ones have all confirmed his accuracy as far as their mortal intellects can comprehend. He formulated ways to tap into the powers of the mysterious quantum nodes that are interspersed among the galaxies to allow for travel between star systems in hours and days instead of weeks and months. He calculated ways to create fractal cores to link neutron stars billions of light years apart. Surely such knowledge of the Universe’s physical laws can be known only to the Creator who formulated them Himself.
He spoke of stars and planets that are forgotten, and of stars and planets that have not yet been discovered. He described civilizations long fallen. He even looked into the Dark Zone, that realm of everlasting mystery and terror, and spoke of world known to mortals only in legend; Brunnis-1, Vora, and Apsinthion. He told tales of the Conquest of B3K, the Net Incursion,
the Great Insect War, and things that happened even before. Surely no one man could know all these things. Without doubt such wisdom could only be possessed by the Force that put everything in the Universe in its place, the One who was with Mankind in its darkest times and its great victories alike, and walked alongside the path of Man in all the Insect Wars and the hazy and chaotic times that preceded the first Insect unrests.Now, He who has been with us in spirit all this time has descended down to the level of the physical from on high, and He chose the lowly yet virtuous and pure Rock Hound of the A.T.C. to be his messenger to the worlds of mortals.
I had the great fortune of meeting Rock Hound a short time after the Elders took notice of him, when he was speaking at the Gateway of Orbital 5. He spoke in tongues and performed miracles which I have witnessed, confirming his place above Humanity in the Great Equation. And he preached the Word unto those who had gathered to hear it. He told us that he was not sure what he was, because the essence within him was quiet and mysterious, but he said that in time, he, and those who followed him, would increase in strength, both physical and spiritual. He told us to look not to the Dark Zone or Pocket Universes for answers, but that the Wisest of the Wise dwells in this universe of light, and can one day touch the lives of all who dwell within, even in its darkest places. If we serve him, and help spread His word to the unenlightened who worship stars and believe in and fear Prince and follow all of the many meaningless religions in the League of 20,000 Planets (in which there are now as many faiths as planets) we will be blessed within our lifetimes and will be received by the Brightness at the Center of the Universe when we finish our course among the stars.
Rock Hound is not a man, for he knows the secrets of the Universe that could only be known by He who created them all. But Rock Hound is not Him, He only speaks through him. In the Cluster His power received Rock Hound, and he was infused with His essence. Truly Rock Hound is HIS DIVINE SHADOW.
Rock Hound, Wielder of Wonders, is now my teacher, and will become the next Patriarch when his light and wisdom traverse the Universe (he has made sure that this will happen with his powers over the Time-Space Fabric), educating the unenlightened and destroying those to ignorant to receive the Word or obey the new Law. With our help and Rock Hound’s body, He will bring Order to this universe. Our next destination is the Capital of the League of 20,000 Planets in the Austral-B Pair. We are now but a small following, but we will grow. We are not a crazy cult, or a misguided and disorganized band of misfits, as some people ignorant of the Word have called us. We are the disciples of His Divine Shadow, the blessed first followers of the New Religion and the New Order. WE WORSHIP HIS SHADOW. Long may He reign!
