Guesti think your choices for a Monday are limited!!
currently during the week, i’m watching Farscape, Stargate SG-1 and Odyssey 5. have avoided watching SciFi channel recently-partly principle, partly because i’m so p****d off with all the repeats!! show an entire run of a show, re-run it two or three times, put something else on for a month, then back to the beginning again! snore….25th October 2002 at 10:03 am #44079Anonymous

Oh you lucky thing, I only get to watch is Lexx!
I’d advise anyone to watch Lexx tapes instead of Mutant X – anything is better than Mutant X!25th October 2002 at 7:35 pm #44080Anonymous
GuestHmm. I actually started to watch Whichblade and Dead Zone.
I recently made the mistake of watching an episode of Andromeda which frightened me (it was so close to Hercules, the Legendary Space Journeys’ that it almost made me feel ill).
Unfortunately though, there is very little inovative sci fi on TV at the moment. It’s just the mainstream, formula stuff.

InactiveWhereabouts in the UK are you located? And what channels do you get? Do you have cable or satellite service? That way, we may be able to narrow down which programs you have access to on Monday nights at 9:00 pm, and then we can easily recommend ones for you to watch. I’m actually living in the backwoods of Canada (and also a British citizen), and I envy you, I like British TV the most. Of course we probably get all your best stuff anyway, and the rest probably stinks! lol
This site may help: A UK TV Guide
Are you looking specifically for Sci-Fi? Or are your tastes eclectic? I think there’s always something great on at least one of the BBC stations, even if it’s just the news.
I have chosen London as an arbitrary location, but some of the programs should also be showing in your region (whatever it may be) on Monday at 9:00 pm.
On BBC1 this Monday at 9:00 pm there’s a documentary which should interest the kind of people who watch sci-fi called Pyramid. Uncovering (understanding) the secrets of the past helps to demystify the present and even the future — we can’t have any true conception of the future without some understanding of the past.
If you really dig Tom Jones then you may wish to watch The Real Tom Jones on Channel 4, which is “The inside story of Britain’s most enduring sex symbol…”
Then on Sci-fi channel there is The Dead Zone. Et cetera.
However, if there’s still nothing on at that time that interests you, you might consider reading a book: George Orwell’s 1984 remains a fave of mine, I’d also recommend Kurt Vonnegut’s books.
But, if you’re really hell-bent on staring at TV on Monday at 9:00 pm, then (if you have a VCR) you could always pre-tape a show, then watch it on Monday night.
As for Sci-Fi (check with your local television listings to see if and when they’re on), I’d suggest you try The Prisoner, Lexx, HitchHiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (which wasn’t that many episodes but should repeat quite often in the UK), Dr. Who (Pertwee was the best Doctor in my opinion), Cold Lazarus (a Dennis Potter mini-series — not often on TV), or First Born (Gor) — one of my fave sci-fi British mini-series ever (Sad, have you seen it? I wish I could rent it again). Oh, this plays just about everywhere, try watching it, if you haven’t already, Red Dwarf.
And definitely watch Black Adder!!!
Otherwise, if you have a VCR or DVD, then I suggest you look through my “Favourite Sci-Fi Films” and you might find something you want to rent, be sure to follow the links.
Or, if you’re really adventurous, you might want to rent, for example, director Krzysztof Kieslowski’s Three Colours Trilogy: Blue, White, and Red (not sci-fi), and Zhang Yimou’s Ju Dou, Red Sorghum, Raise the Red Lantern, and Not One Less (also not sci-fi, but bloody marvelous).
Of course I don’t know if you’ll like them, it all depends on your taste.

ParticipantI recommend renting Andy Warhol’s movie, Sleep. (I think that’s the title.) It’s a film of a guy sleeping. That’s it. Slightly more interesting than watching paint dry.

GuestThey still have episodes of that? I only saw 4 eps before the station pulled it off air characteristic of the Thursday night program juggling act they perform every week (its impossible to predict what will be on in these timeslots one month from now, SG-1 and Dark Angel probably but they’ve been known to disappear for weeks). Though it’s obviously not quality stuff I thought Mutant X was decent viewing for a lazy evening.
And who’s got the gun to your head forcing you watch Monday nights?
Try reading a book (yes, one of those funny paper things with pages and words….).29th October 2002 at 5:20 pm #44085Anonymous
