KeymasterI was wondering why Eva Habermann left Lexx the other day. Does anyone know whether she decided to do another show or if the writers just decided to kill Zev off?

TX.
There was a *huge* delay in production between Seasons 1 and 2, after Showtime decided to pass on helping to finance a second season. During this time, Eva didn’t know whether or not there would ever be a second series, and when her contract expired, she needed to find another job. She signed on for a role on a German television show just days, I believe, before the Beans let her know that things were a “go” for the second season, and she had to make time in her schedule to shoot the 2 first episodes to provide some continuity. AFAIK, there wasn’t any professional or personal problems between her and the Beans.

GuestYeah. The Beans have said Eva did everything to try and make it work but it just wouldent. All things being perfect there never woulda been a Xev. I personally liked the way it worked out but Zev is still my favorite in many ways I was really hoping she would show up this season as an Archtype.

Talk about inconvienient! That must have been annoying for everyone.quote
I personally liked the way it worked out but Zev is still my favorite in many ways I was really hoping she would show up this season as an Archtype.
I liked Zev as well. She was a good charactor. While I don’t mind Xev, she gets my teeth on edge at times and I positively HATED her when she fell in love with Prince in Series 3. I mean, it was obvious he was evil. In my opinion, Xev shouldn’t have happened and Zev shouldn’t have died. The way she died was plausible, but the whole reborn thing just doesn’t fit in.27th April 2002 at 1:15 pm #52802Anonymous
GuestI liked the way she was reborn actually.
At the time many people were wondering who was going to replace Zev. If you didnt have any information “behind the scenes” you thought it was Lyekka. I remember being so ****ED when I first saw Lyekka and saying “THIS IS WHO IS REPLACING ZEV!!!”
I wished though they had worked in more story with her rebirth. After all she isnt really the original Zev but a construct of Moss’s and Zev’s protein created around the memories taken from Stanley and the descriptions by 790 and Kai.
For me there’s always been a big difference too. I think Xev is much more Cluster Lizard than Zev was, and much more affectionate towards Stanley. Of course that could be a result of time as well.
In “Moss” this season though there was a funny scene when Xev says “He smells familiar” I really got a kick out of that.

It actually didn’t occur to me that Lyekka might be an actual replacement, in those words. It was easy to tell that Lyekka was going to stay on as part of the crew, but at that time I didn’t think of her a replacement. More as another charactor to either like or dislike. The word replacement didn’t occur to me.quote
I think Xev is much more Cluster Lizard than Zev was, and much more affectionate towards Stanley.
Yes, she is more Cluster lizardy than Zev was. And she seems to have a bigger libido. That might account for being affectionate towards Stan.28th April 2002 at 8:57 pm #52804Flamegrape
ParticipantIf it wasn’t for Xev, I wouldn’t have gotten hooked on this show!
(Now back to work on my Xev videogame player model…!)
