JMS (John Michael Straczynski of Babylon 5 fame) and Zabel wanted to re-boot Star Trek! :- Its a treatment by Bryce Zabel and JMS for a reboot of star trek submited to paramount in 2004, an interesting article to read. some interesting ideas in there with a mystery race and DNA coding but nothing we havent seen on TNG or B5.
See the article at: http://bztv.typepad.com/newsviews/2006/06/spaced_out_star.html Excerpt from the article: “Admittedly, it takes a lot of nerve to offer to resurrect the “Star Trek” franchise when nobody has asked you to do that, but that’s just what prolific writer/producer J. Michael Straczynski and I did back in 2004. We were working together on a network pitch for a limited series, “Cult”, and we started talking about the state of the Trek universe and, before we could stop ourselves, we’d banged out a 14-page treatment called “Star Trek: Re-Boot the Universe.” Actually though, Zabel and JMS didn’t get anywhere – the NEW Star Trek movie has gone to J.J. Abrams (Mission Impossible 3)
