Hmmm, that’s interesting, I follow new scientific discoveries and had not heard of that.
There was some talk of super fast biological ram (real life brain tissue) which was the next step in computers, and they were going to see how fast it could transfer information, and then eventually attempt a teleportation if the super computer could cope with the data transfer.
The idea was more akin to Star Trek’s replicators than anything else, as the proposed stream of information would be atoms, last I heard they were trying to send an inanimate object through, but like the idea you mentioned the original object would be disintegrated and what happened on the other side was that the computer would reorganise the computed atoms into the original object.
I don’t think they have the capability to transfer someones concsience just yet, but if they can do this with small objects, then it’s possible to recreate anything, from food to blankets for third world countries.
The surprising thing is, is that this is not science fiction, they haven’t acheived it yet, but thet are not far off.
