O/T: Blake’s 7..
Well, you have to remember how long ago these shows were done, Doctor Who ran for about a million years, and the Blake’s 7 shows were cut of the same kind of studio cloth, the budgets were not nearly a tenth of what studios are given today, so the fact that they accomplished what they did with so little is a credit to the production team and the actors.
You also must realize that shows of this type require a certain amount of suspension of disbelief in order to work, you take it for granted the fx are cheesy, but you buy it to enhance your enjoyment of the story. If you concentrate too much on why ORAC sounds like a schoolmaster, or his panels twinkle funny, then you’re going to miss a part of the drama that is important to the story. The character development in that show was the primary engine that pushed everything along, I believe that’s one of the reasons the show garnered such a cult following, much the same as Lexx.
