Bonnee, either you secrete a worthless comment or you babble incomprehensible philosophical double-talk. I still don’t understand exactly what you don’t like about Midsummer Nightmare and the rest of the 4th season. Can you at least state the one big thing that you dislike about the fourth season?

Flame, the monkey chunks comment was a question because I haven’t seen it yet (its two weeks away downunder) – as for the question’s ‘value’, I’m only playfully ‘quoting’ Aleck here (in his summing up of my general disquiet.) I’m not going to waste your time by restating what I’ve ‘whinned’ about elsewhere, especially since the feeling has been that i’ve been flogging a dead horse. Since youu’ve asked – nay, demanded – though: To sum up – too many episodes, not enough ideas. The first part of season 4 seems to consist of a premise in search of situations – and it has played out as if any idea/s will do just to fill the season quota along the way. Instead of playing to its many strenghs (quirky writing, left field developments, interesting stories) it has been playing to its many weaknessness (stupidity, reductiveness, repetiveness, etc).So whilst Lexx is in/famous for its varying quality, the variable approach has tended to set the tone for an entire season. This is the first time I’ve watched Lexx and thought ‘whatever’ – it hasn’t been particularly good or bad, its just been ‘there’ – and it will stll be there for 20 plus weeks. this hasn’t prevented me from enjoying a couple of episodes of course – I liked Pk4, Vlad and Fluffdaddy – but everything else has barely registered, including these enjoyable episodes. I initially had people over to watch the show with me – I don’t remind them its on anymore, and they don’t remember to come around. Someone asked me if I would tape an episode for them, and I told them I’ve got better thing to do with the heads of my video recorder. If they wanted to watch it, they could risk enduring it with me. Bearing in mind that I have each of the other Lexx episodes on tape, and that I’ll only tape season 4 in repeat if I can stomach a season in search of an identity or purpose. It has to get better of course, but when someone like Tony Fawl cries fowl about upcoming episodes – well, then I can only be surprised by (and hopeful for) an eventual turn for the better. My feeling is that if the episodes I’ve seen were my introduction to the show, then I wouldn’t have bothered with it in the first place. It seems to be trading on past glories and our good will. I certainly wouldn’t have persisted if these episodes provided the entry point to a new series. I’m starting to think that I should put off writing my article until the season has completed its run and become a dim memory- that way, if anyone is motivated in seeing it, they can watch it in repeat from the beginning and decide for themselves whether I’m full of s/hit or miss.
