Season 4 and its Critics
Loathe to comment too much on Midsummer’s Nightmare until I’ve got the review sorted out in my head/site, but personally I thought it would have been quite alright were it not for the entire singing forest angle.
It wasn’t a great episode, as far as I’m concerned, but I didn’t think it anywhere near as bad as Love Grows or Eating Pattern, which – considering the behind-the-scenes problems – was actually fairly surprising.
Conversely, I found The Rock positively objectionable. Watching Stanley Tweedle have the crap beaten out of him for an hour (for seemingly no reason) is not, in my mind, enjoyable television. Especially when it’s interspersed with that lovely Irish lilt of the Brunnen-G anthem.
