It definitely wasn’t earth. That is, if we’re talking the Tim Burton-helmed remake. The two moons in the sky are the giveaway. The movie takes that conceit from Pierre Boulle’s original novel: that the protagonist’s adventures take place on another world, and when he returns, he is faced with an earth whose population consists of apes. I have no idea where the horses came from, though. There are some things you just have to suspend disbelief about.
