I understand Doffy,

However, I think that a few people still want to air their feelings and to be honest, I don’t think that’s a bad thing.

Sometimes I see people post messages that are a little too angry. Other times I see messages that are posted with items which are taken out of context and brought up again and again.

As far as I am concerned, the whole APEC thing is old news, but I have to say that I’ve learned a LOT about fanfic, who’s involved, where it is posted, and who hates it since the discussion started.

The fact is, some members of the board are feeling agrieved that things are said about thier views, posts or feelings concerning APEC and they want to vent those feelings and in their words clarify the situation (I know you know all this, I’m just repeating it for the newby’s that maybe wondering what all this is about).

It’s ok to continue the discussion in this forum because that’s one of the reasons that it was set up in the first place. Believe me, there are lots of other angst topics that will surface in the future.

To be honest Doffy, I don’t see why you would want it to end. Most of the visitors to the board don’t lash out at Sci Fi or APEC. Most of the ill feeling has come from a couple of dissgruntled scifi posters and a couple of lurkers who just decided to post a a message or two in the hope of winding people up.

And then we have posters like the excellent elfie who says some really windy-up stuff and the adds an LoL at the end. It makes me smile, but it’ll insence some of the hotheads.

This forum isn’t just for the people who want to vent angst, it’s also for people such as yourself, who want to answer questions and calm things down.

(Just for the record, and for other readers of this thread. This SadGeezers is not opposed to fanfic (in any form) and once offered to host a forum especially for APEC (their own place moderated by themselves). It was gracefully declined because (quite rightly) there are pleanty of other recognised BBS’s and places where fanfic is posted. Much of the trouble started when one or two regular posters to this BBS noted that some APEC members were posting articles to SadBoard. They wrongly considered (so far at least) that APEC would takeover the SadBOARD and begin ‘posting fanfic all over the place and ruining threads and discussions’. Such conclusions were unfounded and are almost impossible! This heated discussion therefore began on an incorreect premise and could (by many people) be considered unfare to APEC members or those fans of scifi BBS).
