You know, when I first saw Lexx (the episode was Nook), I felt interested enough to watch again the next week. Then they showed ‘Luvliner’. I was repulsed, I hated it. Yet, I still find something redeemable in the series. I find its strong points are in its main characters and its willingness to go to bizarre extremes like have two planets be the after life or have the universe destroyed by little robotic arms.
I don’t know if you could call it science fiction. Like so much science fiction on TV or movies there is little if any science in it. Most of the universe isn’t even in the planets or stars, but in other places seen and unseen. Yet, what can you do. For me, it’s just about having fun. I think about what I would do with such a crazy idea.
Ofcourse, the series does have some strong story elements, the Brunnen-G back story for example that echoed through out the series even in the last episode and was visually well thought out.
Lexx was an odd series indeed. I was repulsed, interested, and back again sometimes in the same episode. I sometimes feel that I shouldn’t have watched it all, that it was beneath me. Yet, I constantly tuned in and that’s too the shows credit. I don’t watch that much TV and the I haven’t gone out to see a movie in the last sixth months, so its an even greater accomplish to get me to watch. Ofcourse I still haven’t got any of the DVDs yet. I think I’ll pick up Season 2 Volume 4, I would like to see that other Net/Web episode.
