KeymasterA man obsessed with his work tragically loses the love of his life and sets out on a journey to bring her back. He learns that fate is fate and that he can’t change the past so he goes into the future searching for answers. When an earth shattering cataclysm hurls the time traveler unconsciously forward 800,000 he finds him self in a very different world. At first it seems as though the inhabitants live a very peaceful coexistence with nature. But this future paradise is shattered when large gray creatures attack the people. The time traveler determined to find out what has happened to them journeys to the creatures underground world. He soon finds to his horror these creatures are eating the surface dwelling people. Still on a quest to find one of the particular inhabitants the time traveler encounters a more intelligent version of the creatures he saw on the surface. The Uber Morlock goes on to explain how the human race’s evolutionary path parted after a major cataclysm devastated its surface. After explaining this he reveals that he has the time machine and offers to let him go back to his own time. The time traveler who seems at first willing to accept the offer quickly refuses. The end result of his battle with the uber morlock is that by setting his machine to over load the morlocks underground world is destroyed and the Eloi are free. The time traveler begins a new life 800,000 in the future.
I know that synopsis doesn’t do the movie justice but let me just say it was a very good version of “The Time Machine” with plenty of little tributes to the original film. I should point out that the major difference between the 60’s version and the 21st century version is a very clear change in what society fears. In the George Pal’s movie it was war that every one feared would destroy them. It Simon Wells version it was technological progress and as Filby aptly puts it “You think we will ever go to far with all this?”

GuestGreat review Slop! Although I feel nothing can come close to HG Wells vision, its nice to see it getting attention from Hollywood.
