Feeling inspired after reading Squish-ums topic on that guy who make his own Star Wars film on a £500 budget and a Video Camera
http://www.nutleys.com/darkskies/stills.htmlI was wondering if anyone fancies putting together their own Lexx film?
All we need are a few actors, some people with some good ideas and a bit of cash and we could make our own Lexx offshoot story.
I of course will be the star due to my rugged good looks and fine acting abilities. Anyone fancy being my romantic lead? All I request is that you be extremely good looking and willing to get undressed (for plot reasons of course).

I can’t help with acting, but I’m a steady hand with the camera.
WRITE THE SCRIPT FIRST.
But most of all, I can do all of the 3d computer graphics post-production. The big trick would be finding studio space for the green-screen shots.
WRITE THE SCRIPT FIRST.
With careful planning, something could be put together by late next year.
WRITE THE SCRIPT FIRST.
With script in hand, I could come up with storyboards.
WRITE THE SCRIPT FIRST.
Oh, and I forgot to mention the script. Can’t do anything without a script.

I wonder if we could set up a forum dedicated to writing stories by fans of Lexx. Hmmm. What would we call this type of thing? I’m not sure, could it be, maybe called the Banal and Derivative Literature Discussion Forum? No, no, no, too negative in tone. We need a term that is more encouraging, more appealing to fans and an acknowledgement that it is, in fact, a legitimate form of fiction. I know! Why not call it the Fan Fiction Forum! It could be a place for fans to post their sci-fi-inspired stories, scripts, game ideas, and even artwork and songs. Why hasn’t someone thought of this sort of thing before?

*Ahem*

How about holding auditions at one or two popular SciFi/Fantasy conventions? And who would the main characters be? Stan, Xev, and Kai? Maybe it would all depend on how the series ends? Or not have anything to do with the Lexx but focus on the Divine Order? The Insect Wars?

25th November 2001 at 11:20 pm #50727AnonymousGuestI can write a script, but the last thing I acted in was a 4th grade play, I had one line “Rope? Rope? Rrr-ope?” which I forgot.
But what if we skipped actors altogether and made an animated movie?
I’d be happy to write, we coulf all pitch in, but I’d have to work Xev into it
Other thing is copywright laws…..

Animated movie? It could be done. But you’d still need actors. VOICE actors. Who can do a good imitation of any of the main characters? Still would need some sort of audition.
I’ve already started on a Xev poser model. (Poser is a 3d character animation program.) Some of you might recall that I’m working on model sheets for the main characters.
I don’t know which would be easier, total animation or live action with CG imagery.
Don’t forget that thing about a script!
I don’t remember where I read it (it might have been the moderator’s report?) but I believe that Salter Street does not care if fans make fan fiction about Lexx. If there was serious money to be made, then we might run into trouble. But if whatever we made was a money-maker, then the next step would be licensing. (But we’re counting our chickens before their hatched.)
27th November 2001 at 5:15 am #50729AnonymousGuestI could help out with the acting or voiceover parts, I’ve done some amateur dramatic productions in the past, nothing fancy, but I’ve been told I’m a good actor.
Definitely would fancy the role of HDS!!!
Also I have a good friend in London who has done documentarys in the past, and is very handy with a camera.
I think if we are all committed enough, then anything is possible, as the nutleys have shown.
Although I don’t think Poser is that good for 3d character animation, backgrounds and sets not bad, but not the sort of thing for something like this.
It might be worthwhile contacting the nutleys for some genral info on how to go about it.

Well you’ve got my vote on it Hypatia, personally I think we should work it that who ever writes the script should have a draft idea to work from.
Maybe we can organise a few of us to enter the ideas and then vote on the winning one.
I can’t see copyrights being a problem, so long as no money is made from the venture.
One stumbling block is the distance between those who wish to participate in the UK and the US, but I’m sure we can find a way around it.
It would seem to me that we have enough talented individuals on this board to pull this off, but we must ask ourselves if we can dedicate time and money to such a venture, if yes, then I am more than happy to go for it.
Squishy
