Finally having the DVDs this is one episode that blows me away. My VHS copies of series3 are so crappy so the new digital versions blow me away. Watching this particular ep especially. The visuals are great and it makes the story so much more enjoyable. In many ways this is also the first ep where we get the distinct impression that Fire and Water represent Earth concepts of Heaven and Hell.
So many great scenes too. We meet the living Kai. And Brock and the girls were great too, especially Brock, decent actor. Seeing Ralph Brown again makes me wish they had included him in the overall plot of Series4. And of course Jeff Pustil is just great as always. The conversations between Bunny and Kai crack me up as well. Just a fantastic episode overall almost like it as much as the Beach which is probably my favorite overall.
Also rewatching the May episodes I like her a lot less. She used to remind me of Eva Habberman when I first saw it years ago but now on DVD she seems more evil. In any event she’s a great actress too and the digital quality is a world of difference.
29th March 2002 at 10:12 am #58033AnonymousGuestI did actually think May was played by Eva Habermann!
1st April 2002 at 4:31 pm #58034AnonymousGuestYeah originally when I saw it I thought it was Eva and was supremely disapointed when it wasent hehe.
This time around though I noticed that the girls in Boomtown(Peach, Pear) are the same girls from Woz that capture Stanley.
7th December 2002 at 2:18 am #58035togolaneParticipantDoes anyone know who played the “Fruit salad girls”? There are 5 of them but only 4 have credits.Could anyone post a good cap of the orgy scene so that I might determine who she is.
8th December 2002 at 2:15 am #58036AnonymousGuestUnfortunatly some of this thread got deleted with the board crash =( But DalekTek790 (I think) posted the names of the girls. As I said above (and was wrong =p) the girls are not from Woz like I thought though.
Sorry cant help ya with the 5th name =/

riiiiiight…….. 😆
27th September 2003 at 4:43 am #68541JhevzParticipantHi LexxLurker, Fellow Lexxians,
I too will be taping `Garden’ when the Sci-Fi Channel airs it; afterwards & as soon as I watch it, I’ll see if those 5 girls are also on the `Woz’, which I’ll be taping in 2 weeks.I also like `Boomtown’; it’s 1 of the better ones & I do think you’re right, Eva did play the part of May; if not, whoever did it, did a good job.
Tonight, I’ll be taping `Twilight’; yes, folks, another Kai episode, but there’s also a lot of Xev & Stan in it too. Afterwards, I’ll be taping `Woz’ & `Brigadoom’; but in no way, shape or form, will I be taping `The Net’. I may be taping `Brizon’ in November, but definitely be taping the last 1 of the 2nd season.

In the credits block, you’ll see that May was played by Anna Kathrin Bleuler who’s actually Swis not German.
Personally, my fave episode from the season was Gametown 😉
28th September 2003 at 5:45 am #68570AnonymousGuestAnna Kathrin Bleuler was very nearly the new Zev.
After Eva Haberman left the show, there was a search for
a new actress to replace her. Wolfram Tichy developed a
short list of three candidates who reminded him most of Eva
Haberman or physically resembled Haberman. Bleuler was one
of these, as was Louise Wischermann. Ultimately, the part went
to Paul’s choice, Xenia Seeberg, who he settled on early in the game. The physical resemblance, or the overtones of Eva Haberman, are therefore not accidental.
Interestingly, the role of May was originally going to go to Patricia Zentilli. But at the last minute, due to co-production reasons, it was reassigned to Anna Bleuler. Patricia was bounced into the role of Bunny, and the rest is history.
For anyone who is curious, I have a completely unsupported theory about the character of May.
Basically, I don’t buy that she was Prince’s agent all along. That seems to require a series of spectacular coincidences and a greater degree of omnipotence than Prince ever actually shows.
So here’s my alternate take. We know from succeeding Gondola that Prince can take forms not his own. We know from Key that he can be female when he wants to be. And we know from Heaven and Hell that he can occupy two bodies/be in two places at once.
So, here’s my take on it. May dies, that is, the real May dies. But in order to fulfill his bargain with Stan, or trick Stan into thinking he’s fulfilled it, Prince incarnates as May, in order to get Stan to blow up Water.
Watch Prince and May when they’re together. There’s an odd rhythm to them. Only one moves or speaks at a time. When one is speaking or moving, the other remains still, standing and looking.
It’s as if there’s one mind, switching attention back and forth to operate two bodies.Anyway, just something to think about….

Strongly disagree. The fruit salad girls were principally exotic dancers from Toronto. It’s very unlikely that the Love Slaves from Woz are the same actresses.

TV Tome would agree with you:

I’m glad that Patricia wasn’t cast as May. It’s hard for me to envision her playing evil. And think of all that great Bunny action we would have missed out on!

I had the same thought when I recently re-watched those two episodes. Although, to be fair, my buddy (who was seeing it for the first time) thought she must have been evil the whole time.

I don’t quite take this angle, though. May does not act like Prince after she is captured by Duke, and seems genuinely afraid when Duke is about to burn her. That is uncharacteristic for an incarnation of Prince. We also don’t see any “reincarnating” special effects when May is burned. Whenever any other incarnation of Prince is killed, the body completely vanishes.
I agree that the real May was gone when she died the first time. My theory is that Prince then put an evil soul into her body. Heh. Maybe May is Priest!

They have a tendency to finish each others’ sentences. This is particularly evident in Season 4.
30th September 2003 at 8:05 pm #68644AnonymousGuestNigel Bennet, who played Prince, holds to the theory that May was his agent right from the beginning…. It was all part of his plan.
On the other hand, Bill Flemming who directed May in Boomtown, said that he had no idea what was up with her character. Chris Bould who directed her also seemed uncertain as to things.
So its one of those ‘take it for what its worth’ situations.
Sometimes bodies went away, sometimes they didn’t. It seems inconsistent in Fire and Water’s storyline.
