KeymasterHi all.
My mate is doubting the power of the internet because I can’t find any details about a TV series I vaguely remember! Could someone please help?
This British series was set in England roughly present time, but the main character (a “normal” Englishman) found a portal (in his cellar???) back to World War 2. Every episode he would go back and forth between the present and past. I think he even had a girl friend in the past!
It was more a comedy/drama than hard core sci-fi.
All the above is a bit sketchy in my mind, so any clues would be appreciated.
Thanks & Regards

i think you mean ‘Goodbye Sweetheart’, starring Nicholas Lyndhurst.
from the TV Times Encyclopedia of Science Fiction-
“A TV repair man of the ’90s walks down a London alley & suddenly finds himself back in 1940…..sitcom from Birds of A Feather creators Laurence Marks & Maurice Gran….TV engineer Gary Sparrow gets involved with Pheobe, a publican’s married daughter, and he shuttles back & forth through time between his two loves…”
details of 6 series, ending in 1999
hope this helps!!![ 08-11-2002: Message edited by: snooklepie ]

GuestNice One Snooklepie!
Exactly the show I was thinking of. Thanks! It also seems to be known as “Goodnight Sweetheart”.
My mate is keen on Time Travel, and his faith has now been restored in the internet!
Cheers

InactiveThere was another time travel series in recent years starring Chloe Annette (sp) from Red Dwarf (Kristine Kochansky mark II)as the daughter of an inventor who, along with a local copper, uses his time machine (which filled an entire room/flat and could only transport back as far as the room had been empty or something) to travel back in time to solve crimes.
