okay snooklepie here is how to drink tequila…

1-try to only drink top shelf tequila! the other stuff is nasty! my suggestion is Jose Cuervo Gold. YUMMY!
2-make sure someone else is driving!!! hehe
3-always have a a)husband, b)boyfriend, or c) a very very good friend around!!!! hehehe tequila always made me happy and horny!
4-okay now to the drinking part!
5-make a fist and lick the part that goes from the wrist to the base of your thumb.
6-sprinkle salt on it
7-lick it
8-drink the shot
9-immediately suck on the lime
10-whoo hoo!!!

now that is the correct way to drink a tequila shot! okay now me and my Hispanic friends will tell you that no salt or lime is necessary but for a first timer it is a good idea. Gawd, tell me about RL….just got the dog for company again! hey, anyone know anything about mathematical modelling?? i’ve really screwed up my Open University assignment, it’s a week late, and my tutor only let me have ’til today to sort it. looks like i’ll be on the phone to him tomorrow, doing my best hacking cough impression, & pretending i’m really ill, thats why i couldn’t sort the assignment. wasn’t about to show myself up by sending in a pile of crap!!
need drink now…or i’ll turn into a quivering wreck
…one thing i’ve always wondered about tequila-why the worm? and considering the only spirit i normally drink is vodka, do you think i will like it?? ok, daft question…

Mathematical Modelling?…um, some scantily clad young lady with an abacus!?!
Good suggestion for getting out of tommorrow, get really drunk on Tequlia AND Vodka, then you can be geniunely ill and have tommorrow off!!!, and if you really want the worm, dig up some of the common garden variety earth worms and lightly toast them, if that don’t make ya sick I don’t know what will!!!

hmmmm i don’t really know. someone might have told me many many years ago, but my tequila soaked brain forgot to remember that bit of information! LOL and if i remember right it is not really a ‘worm’ i remember it looked more like a grub.

i’ll have a look myself tomorrow, on the other half’s computer. this old thing’s struggling to even fire up at the mo!
about that assignment- i had to come up with a mathematical model (probably the simplest way of putting it is a formula) for predicting how long the no-parking zone b4 a pedestrian crossing should be in order that once a driver sees someone wanting to cross, they can stop safely. i came up with ideas like actually physically going out and measuring my own car and adding that to the stopping distance for a car at 20mph to that.
“crap, crap!!” i thought, as the question didn’t ask you to do things like that. guess what?? i spoke to my tutor tonight, and i was right!!! that’s just typical of me, thinking i’ve screwed up when i haven’t!! still doesn’t mean i don’t want the booze now, though!!

Ahem! About the worm…

Tequila is made from the heart of the mescal plant, which is a kind of aloe or century plant. The worm or grub is often found in the plant, but why these were added to the liquor I have no idea. Possibly the sugar in them helped with the distillation? Nowadays they just put it in certain brands of tequila to carry on the tradition.

Wow, this thread is old but since May 5th is quickly approaching I thought I’d dig it up.

It has been interesting to see this relatively obscure day morph into a minor beer drinking holiday over the past couple of years, at least here in Texas. I’ve heard latin-themed jingles on the airwaves rave about Corona, margaritas and fajitas. A local Tex-Mex joint sports a large banner in front of the restaurant that reads, “Your local Cinco de Mayo HQs.” Party-favors and tequila specials are on sale everywhere…

So my question is, has this marketing bonanza reached your part of the states?

It’s only reached Texas recently?! It must have started north and moved south, becuase Cinco de Mayo had been yet another excuse to drink (specifically Corona’s and Tequilla) for a while up here in Philly.
