I emailed a question to SadGeezer and he recommended I post my question here and on the official website bboard. I also found out who a costume designer for Lexx was and I sent that person an email too. It would be best to state my question by copying-and-pasting the response I received today:
[I wrote:]
Hello! I loved the work you did for Lexx. I was wondering if you worked on the recent season of that show? If you did, then I have a question for you. When Kai visits Texas, he encounters two students who are assistants for Dr. Ernst Longbore, the wheelchair-bound scientist. One of those students was a brunette who wore black eyeglasses. What type, brand, or model of eyeglasses did she wear? I would really like to know. I want to buy a new pair of eyeglasses and I want a pair that are just like hers! If you can help me, I would be eternally happy. –Flamegrape[Till’s reply:]
thanks for your interest in my costume work at Lexx the Dark Zone. But I am sorry, I am not working for Lexx this season. At the moment I create costumes for a the new Sci-Fi Series called “Ice Planet”. So I can not help you in this case. –Till Fuhrmann—–
CAN ANYONE HELP ME? I want a pair of those glasses! I’ve already been told they are BCGs (birth control glasses) but that doesn’t help me any.
11th August 2001 at 8:34 pm #48173SarcasmagoriaParticipantI think I remember seeing a pair similar to that at LensCrafters (don’t know if you’re in the US or not). However, this was a while ago and I don’t recall who made them.
You can also check specialty eye boutiques if there are any in your area. They usually have some funky eyewear. You may end up paying a bit more, though.
Good luck searching, and sorry I couldn’t be of more help!——————

-James T. Kirk12th August 2001 at 4:03 am #48178theFreyParticipantTake a couple of pictures of Geek-girl or Velma as we call her on the Kai Kaption Page, and go to a few eye glass places *during the day* when the main people are working there. They are usually familiar with what manufacturer is doing what styles. Since you wear glasses yourself go to your eye doctors assistant. Hey will be charmed to assist you, at least mine always were.
Good Luck

I am going to capture several pictures from my videotape copy of Xevivor, print them out, and take them to the optitian. You know what? I think it will blow her mind and she still won’t be able to help.
Unless I have an exact name brand, the pictures might not do any good.
The latest thing I’ve done is email the official Lexx fanclub. I got a frilling automated reply! (Arg!)
I’m still searching through online catalogs of glasses.
If anyone can help, please let me know!
(Is her name Velma? I didn’t catch that.)

I’ve had 5 or 6 dreams where I was Kai. I wonder why that is.

They had a line of frames in an Eyemasters I was in a few months ago, and some of them looked very similar to X’s goddess’s glasses.

They are usually called wet dreams Dalektek!!!, nothing unusual in that, but what is unusual is that you’re turning away Xev, maybe you have gay tendencies and don’t know it…or it could be that you just wanna be Kai.

BCGs are government issue glasses, issued to those entering into military service.
Join the [US] military and you will get a pair for free, well except for that small signing-your-life-away-for-x-amount-of-years detail.antiZero

Flamegrape, i didn’t mean to mislead you
about the bcgs, it’s a really old joke type
nickname for the dark thick rim glasses that
computer engineer types wore in the 1960s-70s
& i had heard it used so much that i just
assumed everyone else had also :0the name of the new costume designer is
listed in the credits & if some has made a
tape of the shows showing the credits maybe
they would be kind enough to steer you in
the right direction & i’ll see what i
can find also..cheerybye!

It’s called an autoresponse and contains basic information to save us personally answering the same questions over and over again.. since I cannot find any emails from you on the server, though, I assume you emailed the NAD division?
I can tell you that had you emailed us a question like that we probably would have ignored it since we have no involvement in the production of Lexx and aren’t privy to a great deal more information than is available to anyone else.
12th August 2001 at 7:51 pm #48188AnonymousGuestI’ll check for you tonite when I tape it Flamgrape.

-James T. Kirk12th August 2001 at 8:12 pm #48189theFreyParticipant*Laughs* No, her name is not really Velma, but she does look like her, and some peeps have used that refrence in a few places on the Kaption site.
Also, I posted this yesterday, but it went missing. Your eye doctor’s assistant can, if you bug him or her enough, give one of your scans to the vendor that they buy their frames from. Trust me, these vendors know who is making what.

Ha-ha-ha-ha! The frilling SciFi Channel prevents us from fracking SEEING the credits! They always squash them in order to show ads for the next Invisible Man or Farscape or Chronicle or whatever. As if they don’t show those ads enough during regular commercial time! But I’ve noticed that during the Monday 2 a.m. rebroadcast of Lexx, they don’t do this atrocity.

Wow! Hmmmm….. I said in my email to the fanclub that if they could get me an answer I would join their club. In a way, I’ve just received an answer. But do I join the club? Doesn’t sound like they are a good source of information…. hmmmmm….. 😉
13th August 2001 at 12:05 am #48191AnonymousGuestsad geezer has episode reviews posted which
have the credits listed, like for texx lexx:
http://www.sadgeezer.com/lexx/lexx4-02.htmwhich lists one jill aslin as the costume
designer. jill was the original costume
designer on the first lexx movies :
http://www.salter.com/lexx/LXprod.htmi couldn’t find a website for her though.

SF13th August 2001 at 2:10 am #48192FlamegrapeParticipantShoot! I thought of that too! I looked around for that credit before and I didn’t see it on any of the Sad Geezer pages. Thanks for pointing it out! That’s a good step in the right direction!
13th August 2001 at 3:59 am #48193AnonymousGuestOk I looked at the credits and here are two names that might help.
Assistant Costume Designer: Jennifer Ellis
Set Costumer: Constance MoermanI’ll see about getting more info but there ya are FlameGrape.

I should have started it in the Lexx Episodes forum and not the Lexx General forum. But since the spoilers in here are not fatal, I think it’s all ok.)
I got a reply from Salter Street Films! The receptionist said that “Jill Aslin [the costume designer for recent episodes of Lexx] is away on hiatus for the summer months but when she returns in Spetember, I will forward this message along.” I’m not sure but I think “Spetember” is Nova Scotian for September. I believe you have emailed the North American Division at http://www.lexxfanclub-na.com rather than us at http://www.lexxfanclub.org/uk
We occasionally get questions about videos or production details directed at us as if we make the show ourselves, sometimes I try to deal with them, but if someone asked me for the exact make and model of a pair of glasses worn by a (seemingly minor) character in an episode we haven’t had a chance to see in the UK yet, I probably would have just filed it. As for blackmail..:P
If you join you get a great biannual magazine put together by our Emerald ( http://www.lexxdirectory.co.uk ), some freebies (I’m not sure what they are these days), access to the members area on the NAD site, access to the mailing list and members forum, exclusive news etc.
14th August 2001 at 3:44 am #48196AnonymousGuestSorry I don’t have any advice, but good luck Flamegrape. Keep trying, I spent mounths looking for a pair of boots like Xev wears but I found them.
(Then my dog ate them)14th August 2001 at 4:02 am #48197FlamegrapeParticipantReally? What kind of boots does Xev wear? Where did you find them?
14th August 2001 at 8:00 am #48198AnonymousGuestFlamegrape;I can’t remember the brand, but I found a pair almost identical to Xev’s at a Hudsons store. So thats a good place to look(for the boots, that is)
You can find boots that look pretty simular most places. Theres a closeup in Patches in the Sky (I think)that I used for reference.
I’m such a nerd.
