I can’t believe how over the top America is treating Janet Jackson’s stunt, it’s absolutely stupid, from a country where most porn sites reside, the woman exposed a boob, big bloody deal, the reaction has been ridiculous.
And now we have this stupid woman suing for serious injury, how the F@*k does she work that one out, she’s got to be one of the mad bible bashers who in my mind are comparable to the mad mullah’s, I like American people in general, but what a pathetic state of affairs, I think the rest of the world must be laughing at how eccentric and totally off the deep end America has shown itself to be in the wake of this, so I say this, for gods sake will you grow up America and stop behaving like an adolescent child throwing a tantrum.

As an American I feel I have to respond…

Keep in mind that in a country with some 260 million people not every person shares the exact same view on this. I am appalled that someone would try to make a lawsuit out of this – AND some dirtbag lawyer just had to take this case.

As far as the “costume malfunction” and exposed breast, I found it quite amusing.

Why does the FCC want to oppress boobies? Hell I don’t know. Jack Nicholson once said about American TV something like “If you suck a tit it’s Rated-X, but if you cut it off with a sword it’s rated PG.” (I’m paraphrasing though)

So my opinion on American TV is LET’S SEE SOME BOOBIES!

I’d like to know why that woman was watching sport, at any moment she could have had to witness the trauma of somebody getting hurt or even breaking a nail! ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I thought I’d get a post in before the new server switch Good to see you all!

Logie…. nursie; still trying to keep that old war horse LExx.com breathing? I don’t see any point to go over there; people just rag on you if you are not in their clique or kiss their rear. I feel I should pull up a rocking chair and get out my knitting needles when I go over there; not that THAT is a bad thing in itself; good for a warm summer afternoon when you are 60+; bad for a billboard! Let it Be, Let It Be…. I know.

Logie today is my” Prisoner “day; I’m going to watch them today!

Back to topic; JJ knew about this; please we are talking MTV. Shock and sex videos ? HULLO? I don’t have anything against what is natural and the body; but Americans don’t have a natural acceptance of their own bodies; how do you expect that not to be reflected in their media? Of course this is a struggle that’s as old as the ages. The old and new; youth versus older age or actually what MTV and corporations perceive as the struggle between old and new thinking.

It’s more than a questions of sex; these questions run into lack of inner qualities; this country is starving for an inner compass individually and collectively. We turned over our future to youth and did not give them a road map.

What is one of the things that everyone gets a rise out of almost everyone; well sex is one; spilling blood another. ie… the content of most shows now and entertainment like video games.

Sex and the human body; that’s natural a part of life; it’s part of the cycle of life; violence though is part of the human experience does not have to be a part of life; but as Americans we choose violence over sex; pfft! I love the freedoms of my country but there are times ๐Ÿ™„ ๐Ÿ˜ณ I wish we thought globally instead of by country.

See you guys later; if i stepped on toes; well my opinion is valid just as yours is; respect me I’ll respect you!

    WOW ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

    The media went overboard?

oh no, say it ain’t so! It never happens anywhere in the world!

Rev up the nukes, get the APCs rolling, clearly America needs to be stopped!!!!

    PS.

I think the rest of the world must be laughing at how eccentric and totally off the deep end America has shown itself to be in the wake of this, so I say this, for gods sake will you grow up America and stop behaving like an adolescent child throwing a tantrum.

Dude, you’re a troll plain and simple. Go re-read your own post again then read what I just quoted.

See some familiarity? I’m laughing at how eccentric and totally off the deep-end this post is. So for gods sake will you grow up and stop behaving like an adolescent child throwing a tantrum?

Why are you and many others so obsessed with what America does???

You’ll find clarity of mind, once you answer that question.

Try and pay attention please if at all possible, I never said the media, did I?…no I did not. as for being a troll I don’t think so, I’ve already stated that normally I have plenty of time for Americans.
And no, I don’t recall such ridiculous hysteria being caused in another country over a stunt like this, sure you get the parents kicking up a stink, but suing never follows.
Can you please explain to me how this woman can claim serious injury for seeing a woman flashing a boob?, the silly thing is that knowing how many silly people back her reaction, is that she will probably win millions…does this sound normal and right to you?
Even another American (Moby) is finding all the fuss over the top, considering all the violent crime that is shown and seen, but I suppose he must be a troll as well.
And your reaction is pretty much the same such reaction to that of Janet’s boob flash, i.e over the top, over dramatic and ludicrous, thankfully not all Americans are like you, but they do seem to be few and far between.

Ya, well I’m embarrassed about this. It’s bad enough we’re bss aackward and being suppressed by the FCC we have these shysters and “sensitive people”, enough about the breast! Actually the entire half time show was a disaster!! It’s not a show anymore it’s just an advertisement for flavor of the week. I mean is this what we have turned into? Even the commercials were once something to look forward to. The money put into it the direction the creativity. Now it’s just an immature attempt to push the envelope. Christ… this place pisses me off. BTW something has to take the heat off her pedophile brother.

This year I’m looking into other countries.
    Cheers

ADM, don’t get so excited about the law suit. It’s just as much a product of media hype as the outrage over the “costume malfunction” and the puffed up corporate hog-wallow that the Super Bowl has become.
Come back in a couple of months and see who remembers the law suit, the breast, or even which teams were playing. ๐Ÿ™„

We just have to subject ourselves to these little outbreaks of hysteria every now and then–it keeps the 24 hour news channels in business. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Yep, I’m guilty of over reacting as well, I tend to forget that America is big, BIG place and situations like this are magnified given the size of the country, I guess that comes from living on a tiny isle called the UK!!!
Ya know how it is, you get a bee in your bonnet and you have to find somewhere too let off steam, but it’s not trolling, anyhoo, apologies for the rant…it’s now passed. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hi Fellow Posters,
I feel very strongly that if us Americans are gonna critisize about a breast being shown on tv, even for just a minute, then let’s also take a long look at punch ’em, sock ’em, knock ’em teeth in & such as well; I hope Janet learns her lesson & wears a bra, so that doesn’t happen again & to not air anymore videos on MTV. I feel that if we Americans are gonna ban that kind of thing, may be we should on others.
I’m very open about my body, but don’t go about showing anywhere & everywhere; I also think that kind of thing should be in a room & no where else.

    A-DM,
I wouldn’t worry about the lawsuit; it’s between any CBS stations that carried the Super Bowl, MTV & Justin & Janet & anyone else who’s involved. I shouldn’t involve myself in that, since I didn’t watch it & wouldn’t watch American Football.

    Posters Unite,
    Jhevz ๐Ÿ˜‰

The point ADM, is that the hysteria seems to be confined to the media. I teach on a large college campus in a conservative medium sized city in the US and NO ONE CARES about this nipple thing. I have heard of no one being “offended” whatever.

In many states in the US, including New york it is perfectly legal for women to go topless in public anywhere.

Given that people here will try to sue over anything to make a buck, including hot coffee, I am not surprised someone is trying to “sue”– good luck.

What is offensive and ridiculous to me is that a station (not a cable station– just a regular broadcast station) can be fined for showing a female nipple but not a male nipple. I bet that this would not hold up if challenged. Not that CBS has the guts to challenge anyone. This is the station that refused to allow a moderate-liberal group to purchase time for an anti- Bush commercial during the superbowl.

Dont get confused between real public opinion and the latest bruhaha on CNN, which has become increasingly celebrity “scandal” oriented since OJ simpson killed his wife and they got great ratings from 24 hour a day coverage.

This “scandal” happens to coincide nicely with a new republican initiative to crack down (nipple down?) on broadcast television in the US so they look like republicans are doing something for the religious conservatives that they need to vote for them in the next election. Otherwise I seriously doubt the republican oriented news services such as Fox , Cnn and MSnbc would be talking much about it. They would still be trying to make a flap about gay marriage in Mass, (but that fell flat because most main stream americans don’t care about that either).

hmmm….I wonder if the woman who is suing would sue a breast-feeding mom who did so in public? No lawyer would take her case on that aspect I’m sure….
I think the bru-ha-ha is silly. I wouldn’t have wanted to be sitting there watching the show with a younger child…but it seems that for most people, football is mostly about being out in the sunshine drinking a beer….same as baseball…same as hockey (except then it is inside in the cold…drinking a beer.) So beer and boobies…seems a good mix?
Poor Janet has to do something to revive her sagging career (I guess with something that dosen’t sag?) Anyone who has seen a Janet Jackson video would know what her pornformances are like and if that was an issue, shouldn’t have booked her.

ADM the only exception I need to take with your comment….why do you jump to the conclusion that the woman who is suing must be a “bible-basher”. Perhaps a personal bent on the issue? I have a bible…I can bash you with it if it would make you feel better ๐Ÿ˜€ Hold out your hand please…

Remember :”All Generalizations are false!” ๐Ÿ˜†

She’s already dropped the lawsuit–her 15 minutes are up.

I guess the trauma wasn’t permanent after all. Or maybe the fact that you have to pay all court costs if you’re judged to have filed a “nuisance” suit had something to do with it. Nah, couldn’t have….

Though the FCC “investigation” ist still ongoing. Hahaha. We’re in an election year, aren’t we.

I am writing to retract my defense of the US… Do you realize that MTV1 and 2 both blurr out the ass of the lead singer of “the darkness” during their scifi video Thing called love? What party poopers. What is so terrible? I want to see his rear end!!!@!

I guess the british are not as deeply afraid of being mooned on TV. They have a sense of humor anyway.

The British do have the best sense of humour. The world will be eternally in debt to the British for unleashing their fantastic wit on the rest of us. God save the Queen!

or sidhecafe at that….I’m surprised there were 2 pages on Janet’s anatomy. But aside from that, as a Bostonian, the ONLY thing that mattered about the SuperBowl is that the Patriots WON!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

And I’m not a football fan at all. But to go outside in the streets the Tuesday after the game, everyone STILL nursing hangovers, and watch the team parade by, every one happy and yelling, confetti falling from office building windows….

I just hope the Red Sox win the World Series this year because that will be the party to end ALL parties in Boston!
