KeymasterThis has nothing to do with reality t.v. shows! However, this scenario could become a reality!
You have a small group of people, who, (for their own good, but mainly for ours) need to “SEE THE LIGHT” and be converted to Lexx supporters (not to be confused with athletic supporters). At best, they have seen one of the movies (maybe), and a couple of random eps.
They are curious and open-minded, and agree to “check it out”, but due to time constraints you can only show them IWHS and 4 other eps!
What would you show them, not only to present some of Lexx’s best, but to showcase some of the supporting talent as well (Nigel, Ellen, Patricia, Louise, Rolf,)? 🙄

GuestSeason Two, I’d probably show them MANTRID or NORB. MANTRID has such a great look to it, and NORB is more of a Scifi adventure than Lexx usually gets into.
Season Three, I’d use BATTLE–visually stunning, Nigel and Rolf are very good, Stan and Kai together are very entertaining. I also think MAY would work, but maybe that’s just me.:?
Season Four, XEVIVOR is easy to understand (for Lexx that is) and like, as is VLAD. THE GAME is a great program, but not typical television fare, I think APOCALEXX NOW might work; it has some beautiful shots, and shows off Ellen Dubin and Rolf and Patricia very well, and it is nice and weird.
Let me guess, are we going to browbeat the Dragon Con peeps? 😀

😡 Well, verbal and written communications aren’t working fast enough…perhaps the visuals will get results?! 😉
I’m still hoping they can be brought around to our point of view…quickly!27th February 2003 at 9:03 pm #65135Anonymous
GuestIt’s very difficult getting people to watch Lexx. I’ve attempted it many times.
Generally if the person is a “mainstream” tv kinda person, show em the first 3 eps of Series 4. Its “down to Earth” pun intended and and Kai gives Longbore a run-down of the first 3 series whic makes it easier to understand than the start of Series 2, which tends to turn those “mainstream” tv viewers off fast by its cult’ish feel and strange characters like Mantrid and Vigo. Those first couple scenes make the most open viewer say WTF!! the first time they see it.
Series 3 from front to back is probably 13 of the best episodes every produced for a tv show, but the beginning leaves a lot of background out. But once a person understands Lexx you MUST show them Series 3, thats how most get hooked. It’s a blend of Dante, Milton, Red-Dwarf, HGttG, and so much a person can identify with in one way or another.
I have a lot more to say on the subject but not the time at the moment, Ill be back later! =)

Participant🙁 Most of the people, that I have tried to turn onto Lexx, just view the program as “pornography!” In this conservative area in which I live even the “liberals”..laugh at liberal thinking!! The fact that Lexx could be more than just a T&A show is inconceivable to anyone in this area!!
I tried to have a serious literary discussion of the television show in one of my college English classes, and wound up with my English professor telling me that she really did not think that “soft porn,” belonged in an literature class!! I view the show as a modern allegory with Captain Stan as EVERYMAN,..a recognizable figure in English literature. All I got started in the class was a discussion of the size of Xev’s boobs by even bigger male boobs!!! 😡 😡 😡…….Stanellette

Guest😯 Are you LEXXLESS?!!!
Where are you? There should be a law….
and nobody shall be without Lexx for their viewing pleasure… 😈23rd March 2003 at 3:12 pm #65338theFrey
ParticipantSeason 3 is indeed the most coherent and visually stunning section of Lexx, but while Battle is what peaked my interest in the series…. IWHS is what made me decide that lexx was the most original SciFi show I had ever seen.
The visual difference was apparent in the first 15 minutes of IWHS, the imagery was wonderful. Okay, I admit the robot image in the elevator got (and still gets) on my last nerve with the doll face and lips, but everything else was right on the money. I was indeed sucked in by the hero being killed in the first part of the show and was left going WTF, but then I was swept off to the rest of the story and thus a Lexx fan is born.

GuestNorb. It’s a straightforward, wild, uncomplicated actioner.
791. Perfect introduction to LEXX sensibility.
Lyekka. Probably the single best episode, textbook surrealism.
Fire and Water. Visually brilliant, moody, starter for season three.
Runner ups would be any of the movies, particularly Gigashadow and Eating Pattern.
