firstly ive tried enlightening people about this admiting that they are sad and being proud of it but i find most people eithe think im insulting them or just crazy and run away. This is the first place i have found were people admit they are sad and just dont care

secondly im only 15 and my mum reckons that ill grow out of this sort of stuff i dont think so anyone got any ideas on how to stop her from trying to stop me watch/read/base my whole life round this sort of stuff.

    Hey Jabba,

I don’t think that there is anything you can do or say that will stop your mom. They can get pretty determined about it. If you’re really desperate you could always convince her that it could be worse. You could change your name to Ripper and become a Satanist.
Don’t worry too much. My mother gave up when I was 17 although she still pesters me about how unhealthy it is from time to time.
    Good luck!!!

My parents are largely unaware of the scifi. Its just like explaining roleplaying to them. By the end they though I was running around somebody’s backyard, pointing finger-guns and playing cops and robbers.

Don’t even get me started on that one…..I end up having to say things such as “you know like Dungeons and Dragons”…..

I caught the sci fi bug from my dad when I was about 3. I remember watching ST-TOS on the portable tv upstairs as my mum hates sci fi and banished us from watching it on the big tv. Ah, memories.
Now I can’t get enough of it. I may be sad but I’m happy.

    I feel your pain.
My dad’s pretty cool when it comes to scifi but all I get from my mom are weird looks…then again my mom seems to be living in a time bubble where I’m still twelve and don’t know where babies come from…

Hee hee! My parent’s are so sci-fi illiterate too! The only thing that they remotely know is Star Wars (my mom always surprises me when we play Star Wars trivial pursuit). But, they were great parents because I always had any Star Wars thing that came out in the 80s!
