This is a continuation thread caused because the Ducks part (Lexx.com Board……) became too large.

It’s curious and rather amusing that the most popular discussion in the Lexx section of Sadgeezer.com is about Lexx.com.

But… but…. my darling.. we are fussing. And that is always interesting.

And there are no new eps to talk about.
And the conventions are all too far away to get excited about.
And we do like them. They be family, and we always chat about family.

    Yo Logan,

Re: question in a previous post…

I can’t put a forum up for gut-wrenching fanfic because it breaks the rules of the forums.

The fanfic rules weren’t written by me, but by moderators of the site from their experiences on the SadBAORD with other users. Fatguy maybe a bit miffed at his post being deleted, but he really should have checked out the rules first.

Having said that, I think I’ll place a link to the rules in the header of the forum along with the intro message. Hopefully peeps will see them more easily.

Well, I guess the thread diverted a bit. But it’s not too surprising really. lexx.com is a very large resource for lexxians and also the official LEXX site.

    Hey Sad,

While I do believe that the Fat One read the rules, I can only surmise that there may have been some other factors which he felt might justify the contents of the post:

    1. The first rule in the Anarchist’s Handbook is that all rules are meant to be broken. However, upon close examination, I notice that there are no links to this important work at your forum. So one should not really expect you to comply to it. But anyway, it must be said, it is usually an unwritten rule.

    2. Rules, like art, are often open to interpretation. The more artful the person, the more he/she will try to deliberately misinterpret the rules for his/her own ends and in his/her own defense (and I’m not thinking of Fatguy, because he, in my experience, is about as honest as Torontonians get).

    3. Perhaps it was assumed that the Sad in Sadgeezer stood for sadistic, and therefore the violent story was acceptable. It could even be argued that the posting of rules that stifle creative freedom is a sadistic act — to which I would respond “Bollocks!” But then one can argue anything — “No you can’t!” “Yes you can!” “No you….”

    4. Or perhaps it was felt that the “art” was too important to be bound by arcane rules of conduct. Or even that the metaphysical notions expressed transcended traditional morality, and would therefore not be judged so harshly.

It is interesting that if a work of art is considered great it is often not censored (although much banging of fists may follow), whereas a work with similar subject matter that is considered, for some reason, to be second-rate may be banned as pornography (often to the applause of the cognoscenti).

As an example, think of Debbie Does Dallas. It was originally banned in Albania, both for its explicit sexuality, and for its total lack of goat cheese content, which violated their strict film codes. However, the ban was later repealed when the elite decided that it was a true work of art (despite its total disregard for the wonders of goat cheese). However, the sequel, Debbie Does Dallas 2, is still banned in Albania even though the film’s producers deliberately included goat cheese to facilitate distribution in Albania! It’s an inferior work, so it gets treated as pornography, whereas the original is art. Go figure. Albania’s censorship board is currently re-reviewing the sequel, and so the ban may be lifted. Whatever happens, not every one will be pleased, and much banging of fists is sure to follow.

Here’s an idea, he says with his tongue still planted firmly in his cheek, if you can’t post such stuff here, why not put a link to a place where you can? Say, a porno board (and no, I’m not thinking of a plank of wood with a round hole cut in the middle), or as some people might call it, “A free speech board” (as opposed to a woodie board).

    On another less silly note:

This site is a far greater resource for info on Lexx, however, the other site is a good resource for people. Now if only I could figure out some way to put those people to good use. Hmm, I know, I’ll enlist them into my Make Logan Rich scheme!

Anyway, enough rambling, you need no defense for your actions, but I feel that Fatguy, as a friend (or a least a virtual acquaintance) deserves mine. Fatguy is a cod philosopher, a poet with a sole, an all-around fishy guy, and to slightly mix my fish metaphors (does it show that I have a fish fetish?), a horny toad, and if you saw his pic as Fat-Fry it would melt your heart and any doubts would disappear. Could such a cute baby turn into a monster? Look at it, he’s so cute! FatFry And if that’s not a good enough excuse for his actions, how well would you have turned out if as a baby you were violated by a bad carrot with a scary man in an afro revelling in your discomfort? I’d be traumatised. The defense rests.

There is no way that I, or any of the other moderators, will tolerate stories depicting senseless, graphic, and misogynistic violence.

The only thing thing worse then rules,(IMHO)
is no rules. Try both sides of the fence

One can only straddle the fence soooo long before it starts hurting.

Having no sense at all, I’m a big proponent of nonsense posts

As long as the SadGeezer staff don’t mind senseless non-violent, non-pornographic posts, then you’re okay with me.

And don’t let my pointless to the point of anarchic post fool you, I’m a strong proponent of rules and regulations.

In fact, I spearheaded an environmental campaign to force, through government legislation, many companies to use Standardised Recyclable Packaging (SRP). Even more important to the cause was Proposition POD. Please have a look (and I apologise, the page hasn’t been updated, or edited, in ages — it’s way too long): The Petition

    Kinda crappy, isn’t it?

That’s fine, Logan. I appreciate your tongue-in-cheek take on things. But I just wanted to make it absolutely positively crystal-clear that there is no room for debate on the issue of porn and gore at SadWriters. I’m sorry I had to lay down the law in a possibly heavy-handed way. But this is a very serious issue.

And BTW, all this talk about fan fiction has inspired me to continue the story that I started a long time ago. When I post it, I’ll fully expect you guys to critically rip it to sheds. Just don’t use naughty words!
