Lexx Producers Double Bluff

Do you think that the current statements by the “Beans” to end Lexx after Season 4 is a bluff? Do you think they are hacked off with the way that Sci-Fi has treated Lexx in its schedules and promotions so they have decided to kill it off only to re-birth it sometime in the future? I think its very possible. Lexx will end as it is at the end of this Season but shortly after a new Season of Lexx will go into production, no longer under the control of Sci-Fi. Whaddyareckon? As much as I’d like to believe that, I think
the death-bell has tolled for Lexx. The cast
members are not interested in continuing the
show after this year. I don’t think it had
anything to do with sci-fi, even though they
sure could have done more, but remember,
Lexx was around way before sci-fi ever heard
of it. It probably is just as well, unless
they were to come up with a final movie or
something, but MM cannot continue to look
the same age as he did 6 years ago, when
the show first aired in the form of the four
movies. It is a tribute to him (and the
makeup people) that he hasn’t really seemed
to age much at all, but that will not always
be the case. The character cannot appear to
age,without defying the premise of the show.
(Unless of course, they brought him back to
life) but I don’t see that happening. Apparently, MM has had his fill of Lexx…. Well, if they get to do the spinoff I hope they go the syndicated route like Andromeda, Hercules and Xena. I would think there would be more creative control that way since you would really be shopping around an already produced product. If there is any nudity to be had, I’m sure they could as easily edit those bits as they have dome with season 4 so that it would be appropriate for a syndicated American audience.
I am glad they made this season with the knowledge it would be the last. Voyager knew knew when it’s end would be way before it came that they would only do 7 years. However, suddenly their on the last epsiode and it’s like, “time to go home”. At least DS9 drug out the impending end over a satisfying 8 part finale story arc. But with LEXX it’s a 24 part finale. I’m very pleased with the continuity of the show and I’m sure we will be treated to a satisfying end to one of the best SciFi series ever.
